Actually I wasn't trying to be funny, I thought it was a reasonable offer. Young is a very flawed player so two first round picks (3 from them, 1 from us) sounded like the right amount of balance to make the deal palatable from both sides.

Steve

I'm not completely sure about the analysis... but Git Er Done. :)

Everybody repeats every rumor they here. It just spins around.

True, but I think that tweet is probably accurate. Minnesota is a crappy trade partner for the Suns. What trade value they have they almost certainly will not part with. The Suns wanted Kevin Love, when that did not happen there was nothing left to discuss with Minnesota. Today's bit o drama is probably just leaks from either Rich Paul, or the Wolves, in an effort to increase pressure on the Suns to cave.

Another team needs to step up with better trade assets to get this thing moving.

Well, then we are lucky you are not our GM. ;)

Yeah... because I've really missed the boat on these kinda calls in the past... :D

I'd much rather have a multi-talented guard, a guy who is not only a solid offensive player but among the elite at his position on D, than a slow, plodding big man who can score... but cannot defend a chair. If we got Pekovic by Christmas 90% of the board would despise him. He makes Gortat look like Dikembe.

Another note.

Guess who has missed more time with injury the past 4 years, Bledsoe or Pek?

I'll give you a hint... its not the guy who can actually defend his position.

I would have considered the offer of Bledsoe S&T for Barea, Brewer, Lavine, removal the protection of their pick.

Why? How do any of those parts make us a better team? Just a bunch of guys, we already have a bunch of guys.

Lavine is a lottery pick, removal the protection from their pick could give us another.

I don't really see how Bledsoe could net more right now than 2 (late) lottery picks.

I can only hope we can get a young player like LaVine or maybe Bennett back in this deal.

Bennett can be had a for a pair of Dunkin Donuts.

...so yeah no, I want WAY more than Bennett.

How would we have time to develop Lavine? He's extremely raw, and we don't even have time to develop our own talent now.

Even if we could get another late lottery pick, we have a roster full of them. We need less quantity, more quality. I'd rather roll the dice on working out a deal with Bledsoe in the next year, or attempt a sign and trade when his contract is up.

Agreed. We have a full roster, we need a true star. Bledsoe is far closer to "true star" than anyone we're likely to get in return.

Yeah, unfortunately those guys don't grow on trees, and the ones that are willing to come here are even fewer. Hopefully we can work something out that is reasonable for both sides.

Nobody has talked much about it, but if you had the choice of maxing out Bledsoe or Dragic, who do you pay?

Like Goran better as a person, but it would be hard not to take the younger, more athletic guy. Off topic, but will be a bigger story as the year goes on.

I'm okay with giving each of them something near the max - not the home max though, I'd save that for just the small handful of superstars that can truly carry a team. As for choosing between them, that's hard to do (for me). I think Bledsoe has the higher ceiling but it's hard not to favor the player that has shown he clearly wants to play in Phoenix.

I love that with Eric we finally have a strong defensive player, one that makes the rest of the team better. Then you have to weigh the wear and tear of annual international play versus Bledsoe's questionable knee. On paper that looks like a clear win for Dragic but looking forward, that's just too hard to call without access to Eric's medical information (and the medical background to fully understand it) and even then you have to do some guessing.

I guess all told, I go with Goran if I had to make the hard choice. So here's hoping they sign them both long term and make it easy on us.

All the headlines read "Minessotta willing to give Bledsoe a max contract". But what they are actually willing to do is to add no more than a couple million to payroll in order to replace a few players they don't want with a player they do. What team wouldn't be willing to do that? The T-Wolves already have committed a big chunk of what they are "offering" Bledsoe to other players they no longer want. That money is already spent.

As for the Suns, they have absolutely no reason to even listen unless the name Wiggins comes up. Which obviously won't.

Draft picks along with Dieng and T Young might interest me but I'd really prefer to just match the offer they'd be willing to make.

I think the whole concept of the Wolves being willing to offer Bledsoe a max contract is very deceptive. They don't have the money to make the offer without the Suns subsidizing it by taking on bad contracts.
