I am now actually considering Geno Smith with out first pick because 1) We do not have a QB and I think Geno makes for a better QB than anyone we currently have on the roster because Kolb cannot stay healthy and the other two suck...I like Hoyer as a third stringer with Straton coming aboard 2) Wilson will get selected by the crazed Jerry Jones (he loves his Razorbacks and this is a glamour position pick he cannot avoid, with Captain Tony Choke's recent play) and be a Cowboy IN ROUND ONE. The Draft will be ooouing and awwwing with this stunner of a pick LOL

He played in the Big 12, does any team play defense in that conference other than Kansas St.? Seriously, his defense is no excuse for Geno Smith letting his team take a nose dive after they beat Texas. A top QB and leader does not allow his team to lose the following 6 games. He is good athlete, but he is not a top QB IMO. UNderachieved for the talent that he had on that offense. BY the way, they scored 14 pts in the two consecutive games after they beat Texas and scored like 14 against Syracuse in their Bowl game. Choked.

As far as Nassib, I am going to side with the multiple analysts who described Doug Marrone's offense at Syracuse one of the most pro style offenses in college football and prepared Ryan Nassib for the professional game more than most QBs over you. No offense.
Their offense averaged 40 point per game in the TCU, Oklahoma State and Oklahoma games, but lost all 3 games. Their offense played poorly in 3 games this year, but yet people want to blame Geno for all 6 losses.

I did not say Geno Smith was the problem at West Virginia. I said he underachieved. Top QBs and leaders don't let their defense be an excuse and rally those players to play over their talent level. I'm not saying they should have been undefeated, but a top QB does not lose 5 straight.
I guess that means Drew Brees really sucks than..

There, I just threw that out there in classic forum style without choosing to go through the trouble of showing proof or citing any pro scouting credentials. He is the best QB in the draft. I watched enough of this kid's tenure in college to even claim arrogantly that he is much better than Geno Smith :D

I sure would not argue with you Jetstream. Everyone is on the Geno bandwagon because of the Combine. Last year Arkansas had a HC change at the last moment and the HC was calling he plays and making the game plans so I do not look at 2012 as a year when Wilson could shine. The year before he was sort of all everything and I watched nearly every game he has played in the SEC. I think he is as good a QB as in the draft and will be a player in the NFL. Give him a year behind Kolb or who ever we start and I think he will be our future QB. I doubt we are smart enough to look beyond all the hype of the other QBs unless he is the only one standing in round 2.

Geno vs. Matt vs. Tyler - A pretty robust debate. It won't be resolved here. In fact, it probably won't be resolved until we see how things work out a year or 3 down the road (possibly with one a Cardinal - or not).

That sums it up rather well Jeff.

The year before Wilson impressed the hell out of me and I made it a point to watch him on as many games or highlights I could. I just see a very good QB, regardless of the recent chain of events. I think with Moore and Arians, both Wilson in round two (or moving up if he is the target, he won't last) and early selection of Geno Smith in the first could work. If Whis and Graves was still in charge, I would not touch any of these QBs. So much depends on the coaching staff. I like Wilson a lot.

Lets agree to disagree. He wasnt the problem as stated in this thread. You dont get numbers like he had by 'letting your team down'. He put up 40 points a game, I suppose he should have played safety or CB too???

Well he is not a top 5 NFL QB though I am not sure how this thread or the current conversation relates to him.

I think the poster was saying, Breese W/L record at Purdue was pretty bad. You mentioned top QB's dont let their teams lose 5 or 6 games. Breese did.

And thats another debate on Breese NOT being a top NFL QB....

Brees didn't have two 3rd round+ WRs on his team either. Nor was college football the passing league that it is now. Nor was he touted as the best QB coming out of the draft.

As far as Drew Brees, I said he wasn't a TOP 5 QB in the NFL. That is different than being a TOP QB in the NFL.

Tyler Wilson is nowhere close to being the best QB in the Draft.

I totally expect Kolb to be our starting QB in the fall. So unless coach sees Geno or any of these QBs as our sure bet future QB, I would totally ignore the QB position in the draft this year. Build a team around Kolb and give him a fair chance to win. We have paid him, so lets make us of him once and maybe for all. If he is the total bust some think he is, then we address QB next draft.

Agreed Fish

Boy this class of QBs sure seems like 5-6 guys of the same ability & I'm not sure there's a franchise guy in the bunch.

Again, Tyler Wilson is the best QB in this draft because he is. He just is...so deal with it already. See how much sense I make :)

I think Tyler Wilson is the grittiest QB in this draft and the best leader in this draft...he reminds me a lot of Matt Hasselbeck. There's a real fire in this kid's belly. I really like that in a QB. I think Barkley shows it as well, but not as demonstratively as Wilson.

But, like Hasselbeck, my concern about Wilson would be keeping him healthy.

One will puke one will dance in it- if we draft Geno Smith! I'm taking Barkley in the 2nd if he's there, But Whiz did everything opposite of me - and most cheered! So it is a new day!
