I'm traveling this week and was listening to the Atlanta sports radio guys....and they had a bet going on that he would be gone in the 3rd.

I am fine adding him in the 3rd or 4th, but I doubt he will be anything better than a #2 CB due to his size. He makes plays which is why I would bring him in, and with the increase in more 3 and 4 WR sets, he still brings a ton of value despite being a sub player.

KFFL update as today cites Somers as reporting that Mathieu will be paying the Cards a visit.

Without getting into the teeth of a "character vs. talent" debate, it does seem that there has been a policy shift under Keim - the Cards are bringing in guys with a bit of baggage for interviews. Christopher (who overslept through 2 combine meetings) was one. Mathieu is another, and I think there were one or two more.

At the very least, there seems to be a new policy of giving guys like that chances to explain themselves rather than write them off our board as an automatic matter of policy.

Thoughts?

I agree Jeff. In the old days Mr. B. would veto any player that had a bad reputation no matter what the GM or coach wanted. Mr. Bs way or the highway. Tough to make it in the NFL without a couple of bad guys on your team as football is a tough guys sport.

Those teams would be stupid. I could be wrong, but CBs are at a big enough disadvantage due to the NFL's rules when you aren't considering the size difference that a CB who is 5'8 has to overcome.

I have a huge issue with a team that would use a 2nd round pick on a 5'8 CB who has personal issues. I'm sorry, I like the kid as a prospect, but any team that can't find 64 better players needs a better scouting dept.
