Yeah, that's going to be hard for them. He pretty much carried them tonight.

I didn't like the T and I didn't like the discrepancy in free throws (something that has happened a lot to us since the first Colorado game and I don't think it's coincidental) but I never like to hear the coach talk about it in the press conference. At most, maybe a casual mention but I don't think he did us or himself any favors bringing it up so many times. He tried hard to give full credit to UCLA while taking shots at the refs but that never works well.

Steve

I think he feels guilty for directly giving UCLA 2 points. Just so happened we lost by 2. He implied as much in the presser. That was a really bad call, and just perpetuates the notion that PAC officials are amongst the worst in the Nation. It's not that they are lopsided for one team, they are just very inconsistent. One minute, they let the kids play; the next they take over by blowing ticky tack fouls. Saw it during the CU game yesterday.

Also, we're probably not going to get PAC refs in the Tourney, so it's a moot point and won't impact us moving forward, IMO.

Anyone else notice Wear shoving Jerrett in the back and under the hoop on the game-winning putback? Kind of made a difference, methinks.

UA ain't perfect but they appear to be playing their best ball in a while. Sucks that they didn't win Vegas but the real Tournament starts next week.

Yeah we've played our best defense since December the last three games. How we fare in the NCAAT depends on matchups, we will see tomorrow who we get. Teams I want to avoid in 1st round are South Dakota State and Oklahoma. Potential second round matchups that scare me are Wisconsin, Michigan, and Marquette. Either way we're good enough to beat pretty much anyone in the country but also can lose to any of the top 52 or so seeds as well.

Where are you guys hoping the Cats land in the brackets? Under the assumption we're locked into a 5th seed...

Ideally, I'd like to see us in Gonzaga's bracket, as a 5 with K-State as the opposing 4.

What I'd hate to see... Louisville as the #1 and a potential date with Wisconsin in round 2.

Of course none of that will matter if Mark Lyons goes 1-14 (0-9 from 3) with 6 turnovers in round 1 and we lose to Middle Tennessee State.

I wasn't there but I've got 4 different people(friends or people on boards) who were there that all insist Miller dropped at least 3 F bombs. The refs had already been warned because they were both on the court too often. UA fans and Miller are denying he used the F bomb but again other people who were there claim they heard him say he touched the bleeping ball not his version. I thought the original call was bad.

Can't feel bad for the ft discrepancy because I remember last year when it was 36-16 UA in the conf tourney after being 32-16 UA in the 2nd meeting. Plus, the game started with UA going 10 minutes without a foul.

I'm absolutely crushed for Adams, I guess is gives Powell a chance but what it mainly does is point out why Howland is in trouble. We lost 3 games easily this year because with an 8 man roster if someone gets hurt, you're dead. You can't have a program so unhealthy you have 8 players without any injuries. No margin for error.

Yeah that was actually quite obvious.Problem for Jerrett is he needs to get stronger, same with Kyle it happens to him quite often.

Bad news - #6 Seed

Good news - Draw Belmont then New Mexico.

UofA should mow over both, but who knows....

BTW - Oregon as a #12???? Committee hates the PAC.

Fortunately for them, they play in San Jose in the first round. Same with Cal as a #12

I feel bad for Oregon but happy with the Cats staying in the west.

New Mexico is a LOT better than you think... #2 in the country in RPI and coached by Steve Alford..

IF UofA gets past them it will be close, no way they roll them....

Alford is not a good post-season coach. Hasn't gotten out of the second round in over 20 years with numerous one-and-dones. Plus, his team is not a very good shooting team, which works in our favor.

IMO, Belmont is a tougher matchup because they can shoot the ball efficiently and cause turnovers.

Larry Scott is an insufferable prick. Fined Miller $25k for his heated discussion with officials after the game.

Didn't realize protecting the "integrity" of the PAC officials was higher on Scott's list of priorities than a coach shoving one of his players.

Umm even UA fans are admitting after the game Miller screamed in the face of one of the refs, and then when the refs were leaving the arena he was screaming obscenities at staff who were preventing him from getting closer to the refs to yell at them again.

He's actually lucky he didn't get more than 25K. I have 3 friends who were at the game they insist they heard "he touched the bleeping ball" followed by 2 more F bombs right before the T. I know a guy on a UA board who insists a media type he talks to regularly was near the bench adn the guy insists Miller didn't use an F bomb, but then UA insiders are claiming the T wasn't on Miller it was on one of the assistants so I'm assuming whichever one was the one people heard with the F bombs.

The announcement said Miller had been warned before about his actions towards refs after conference games so it's not like this was a one time thing.

the guy is extremely emotional.

I agree that Monty should have gotten worse for his situation with Crabbe but there's no way you can run after the refs twice like that and not get fined.

I don't have a problem with the fine, his post game actions were clearly inappropriate.

Whatever, his job is to win basketball games and he's done a pretty damn good job so far.

Agreed. I have no problem with the way he behaves during the games and usually I have no problem with his post game interviews. He knows better than to do what he did after the UCLA loss though but to me it's no big deal. He crossed the line, he'll pay the fine - end of story.

It's about consistency. Whatever the facts may be (there's contradictory info out there about how Miller handled the refs), Scott has to be more consistent with his punishments. For example, Monty shoving Crabbe should've resulted in more than a public warning.

If there's any desired outcome, it's that the PAC officials ought to be put on notice. The garbage officiating has gotten out of control.

So evidently, the popular upset pick is Belmont over UofA. Colin Cowherd declared it. Obama picked it. Amongst others.

I've said that although the matchup isn't favorable for UofA, it comes down to a large discrepancy in talent and Belmont's inability to rebound. If they start missing shots, they won't get another chance to put it back in. There's no reason Tarc shouldn't have 13+ rebounds.

How can he be consistent though. Monty's actions were towards a player, Miller's were towards a ref who is technically a Pac 12 employee, and reportedly security staff who work for the pac 12.

Of course he's going to come down hard on Miller. FWIW I've heard Cal themselves are going to fine Monty if they haven't already. I think he should have been suspended by Cal.

I actually think a big part of it is the Belmont Bruins. People like to be cute and say they'll lose for the 4th time to the Bruins.

On paper it's a mismatch UA should play volleyball on the glass and win easily.

For a guy whose brother in law is a Pac 12 coach Obama hates the Pac 12, he picked UCLA to lose too.

As I've seen from other shoot-happy teams, they live by the 3 and die by the 3. It's as if Belmont has eight Mark Lyons on their roster. If Belmont hits their shots, we lose. But if they have trouble getting their shot off, they cant bang inside. At least UofA has the talent to kill them inside and out.

Obama didn't pick a single Pac 12 team winning a game in this tournament. Not our fault his brother in law is a poopy coach.

I have you guys winning twice, and UCLA winning once and Colorado winning once. So I have the Pac winning 4 and losing 5.

I have the Pac 12 going 6 - 4. :D

Steve

That'll teach me to pick a team I've barely seen over one I know well. I picked OSU to beat Oregon and St. Louis, only game I've got wrong but I had them winning 2.

Oregon looked good but Artis is visibly limping, that foot isn't healed.
