Great timing for Miller to have Chol suddenly wakeup. Both helps UA in the tourney, and allows him to play the kid more reducing the chances the kid transfers.

It's this sort of ******** that keeps ASU and UofA from being an elite rivalry. Real rivals never wish for even minimal success for the other team. Under any circumtances, but especially in the tournament or in a bowl.

:biglaugh:

Sorry, but that's not how I roll. I am SO used to ASU not getting into the "Big Dance" that I usually end up pulling for Arizona in the Tournament. Maybe that will change, who knows. And if Arizona gets knocked out, I pull for whatever PAC schools are left. I just despise the East Coast bias and love it when our schools do great.

But if we are going head to head for anything, of course I am all about ASU, where I did my undergrad, grew up, bla bla bla.

Agreed. I never wish them well. Never stayed the night in Tucson and have actually avoided going through it on several trips to Texas.

I see it a different way. To me, the Conference is like a family. You have an incredible rivalry with your siblings and you want to beat them in everything but when one of them gets in a fight outside the family, you're right there to support them. It does nothing to lessen the rivalry you feel with that brother that is just a little older or younger than you. Not to mention, it's much better for the individual teams if the conference does well on the national scene - easier to recruit, easier to get TV exposure and it's easier to get into the NCAA tourney (or Bowl game).

This is my view with every Pac12 team except UofA. I hope they lose every game by 50.

I look at UCLA as a rival. I want to see them lose by 50 every time they play Washington State but not when they play Syracuse. When they play Syracuse I want to see blood and guts, all orange. When they play Georgetown, I want to see John Thompson the 33rd crying on the sidelines. And when they play Duke, well, you get the picture. Raise the conference profile, raise the teams within and vice versa.

Man, we can't even beat scrubs with ease, anymore. This team is vulnerable until it can learn to either a) stop teams from going on insane runs or b) counter with significant runs of its own.

BTW - like Ashley coming off the bench, but don't like KP3 starting. He's a much more fluid player when he's leading the 2nd team. Like to see Jerrett next game.

Also, Lyons once again giveth then taketh away. 18 points, but 1-9 from beyond the arc and 5 turnovers.

Team came out flat again to start the game but worked into better offensive flow after getting out into transition for some easy buckets. Also nice to see Gabe York get some burn tonight

I liked him a hundred years ago. Now, he talks too much. He's forgotten that he is not the star, the game is the star - let IT shine.

I don't know if the kid is going to carry us into the Final Four or shoot us out a game in the second round.

Must have been a rough last 30 years or so then.

Solid win, last night. Was about to take down my Bunnies avi until he went on a personal 9-0 run on the Huskies.

There's no legit reason this team can't do this to every team left on the schedule, but until they demonstrate consistency, ill remain skeptical.

Quoting someone from goazcats, com: "Lyons is the type of player you love having on your team, but you're not terribly upset when he leaves."

McConnell will make it easy for us to lose him next season.

I have been saying this for a month or so now.. But this team lacks a killer instinct.. The lackadaisical starts happen every game.. It's like they just come out and see what is gonna happen.. They don't take charge.. Then they have to mount huge come backs.. And as we've seen.. Sometimes they can't come back.. They need to come out and just start punching people in the face and not look back..

2 of the 3 top scorers today were KP3 and Zeus, which demonstrates our ability to get significant contributions from our role players.

Great 1st half. Dismal 2nd. Listening to Miller post game, you'd think we'd lost the game. Says players can't "pick and choose" when to play defense.

Also, Nick Johnson needs to shoot better. A lot better.

Nick has never been a great shooter. He is more a creator, scorer than shooter.

Over his last 8 games, he's shooting 36%, 29% from 3, and 61% from the line. All below his career averages, and unacceptable from your starting 2-guard. He was shooting remarkably better this season up until the game we had @UW. So much so that I was convinced he was going pro at the end of the year (which I still acknowledge is a possibility). I've also witnessed him miss easy layups on several occasions; a problem he had last season.

While not a sharp shooter, he is still a very good shooter and one of the Top 3 scoring options on the team; interchangeable with Hill and Lyons.

In addition to which, during this same 8-game stretch, he's only scored in double figures twice.

Bunnies is too important to this team to be this unreliable, especially when we're getting close to Tourney time.

He has never been a great shooter, even in high school. He is still dangerous because he can create his own shot, take it to the basket and can handle the ball well enough that if another defender helps out, Nick will find the open man. You also have to keep in mind he was sick for over a week and was not 100%. He is also one of the best defenders on the team.

My point is he's struggling mightily. Hes not making shots he's creating and struggling at the rim, as well. The numbers I put up above indicate as much when you compare to his games prior to the 8-game slump + overall career stats. I realize he was sick, but he's been fine for a while now.

No excuses- Nick needs to score more - simple.

If there was a 5-point shot from behind half court, I guarantee our players would be stupid enough to take 65% of their shots from there. Also, doesn't look like anyone was listening when Miller questioned the team's toughness on defense.

Awful awful awful loss. #2 seed now requires a PAC tourney win, IMO.

I've officially punished Nick Johnson. Peace out, NJ avi!

He's been replaced by a more reliable (and better looking) prospect.

Yeah Nick hit the wall...again.

I can't wait for the next six years of McConnell/PJC. No more Xavier-type head cases.

Agree.

I'm also getting impatient about Aaron Gordon. A Kentucky twitter feed said this week that Zona was still the front runner. Homeboy needs to figure it out, soon.

Throw him in the mix with McConnell and PJC (provided he stays more than 1 year) and we'll be prime for a championship, for sure. Too many things are going wrong this year for me to believe we are anything more than a Sweet 16 team.

I still think we're good enough to beat anyone but inconsistent enough to lost to just about anyone. Some people probably say that every year but this is different for me. We really are the equal of the best teams out there when we play to our ability but we so rarely play to that level. I keep hoping that Sean is waiting for the tournament to unveil his version of a 40 minutes of Hell kind of defense to offense or something like that.

Sean Miller cant coach.. We will get knocked out in the first round.. Some school with an agenda will come in and bump us out..

This team lacks desire.. They think it should be handed to them..

All the talent in the world and no killer instinct.. So sad..
