Jarret and Ashley had solid games tonight, which was important for the Cats to see. The freshmen need to start contributing consistently from this point forward.

To add: I'd like to see Gabe York get some minutes over Mayes. Higher upside and can light it up from beyond the arc.

Don't expect to see much York anytime soon he can't guard anybody. Mayes is a much better defender it's why he plays even when he's been in a slump.

I won't be at all surprised if York is the next UA transfer(with Chol), Pitts is a much better defender coming in next year.

I have the same concerns about Zach LaVine with UCLA next year I've never seen any indication he can guard anybody.

If Nick Johnson goes pro after this season, York will stay. While York isn't as good of a defender, he's a far better shooter than Mayes and can take attention away from the interior.

Chol is a different story. Very discouraged he hasn't improved.

Bad week to be undefeated, I guess.

Of course, I expect Duke and Michigan to only drop one or two spots and Arizona to drop five.

They're going to ask Chol to RS next year is my guess. If he says no he's gone.

Not sure on York, he is saying the right things publicly.

Johnson isn't ready. Talented kid, but he's not consistent enough and sitting on the end of an NBA bench isn't going to help.

Chol needs a ton of personal attention. Perhaps his own big man coach. He has shown zero development from last season. Red shirt year would do him good, but I hope we dont have another Kyryl on our hands.

As for York, both he and Miller have said all of the right things. York says he's patient; Miller indicates York's time will come sooner than later.

Kyryl let himself go physically, Chol just isn't very good right now.

Hard to believe at one point shortly into their UA careers that Derrick Williams came off the bench behind Kyryl.

USC fired KO today. You gotta think it's something else off the court because they just beat Utah by 20. they're 7-10 but still odd timing on the firing. Haden said he decided the program was underachieving and I think we all agree but now seems odd unless it was something else. Bob Cantu is interim HC.

Look for them to make a real run at Dixon, unless Howland somehow saves his job at UCLA which is supposed to still be very unlikely.

Yup. 17 point win by the Cats. Carson getting into foul trouble didn't help the Devils that's for sure. Good win.

Waiting patiently for Jahii's recantation of his "best pg in the PAC" tweet.

Thursday should be interesting, if it was in LA I think UCLA probably wins, at Arizona should be a UA win.

For me the 2 matchups are who guards Solo, and can Drew and Powell stay in front of Lyons. Drew has a real bad habit of coasting on D and allowing dribble penetration its why teams like Oregon get us on the offensive glass. Everyone rotates over to stop penetration leaving someone not blocked off for the putback.

Hopefully for UCLA, Bazz and Adams get it going, Adams is shooting .326 in his 6 P-12 games and Bazz is under 50% in 4 of his 6 conference games and didn't score in the 2nd half against Oregon.

#6 today

Indiana dropped from #2 to #7 by virtue of its home loss to Wisconsin.

Oregon ranked #16

UCLA dropped out as did SDSU, which hurts UA.

At this point UA really isn't in any RPI trouble. Good ranking, good RPI. Now if Oregon wins both the regular season and conference tourney they're going to get a higher seed than UA but right now UA is going to get a high seed.

If they lose a few more that could change.

I think it's a safe bet we'll lose again but what will really kill our RPI is the conference opponents on our schedule. Our wins over Florida and Miami are really helping us and hopefully they'll continue to play well.

I was just watching ESPNU and they said (under the "what we've learned" title) that Oregon is the best team in the Pac 12. How they learned that is beyond me. I love it when they decide to pay attention to one or two games and ignore all the others. I'm not sure who the best team in the conference is but I'd laugh in anyone's face that claimed to be unbiased and pointed to any team other than UA. I wouldn't be shocked to see UCLA or Oregon on top at the end of the season but to date, Arizona has played the best against a tougher schedule.

I have no doubt UA is the best team UCLA has played yet. And on the road, white out etc it's going to be an atmosphere the freshmen just haven't seen.

I expect UA to win, I think a key for UCLA is obviously defensive rebounds and turnovers. When they handle those 2 things, the other team doesn't get as many easy shots and the bad defense looks better.

Would help if Bazz and Adams shoot better, also would help if one of them starts slowly if Ben figures it out earlier and puts Powell in for defense and energy.

But in the end I just don't think we matchup well with Hill and Lyons and at home it'll be too much. I eexpect UCLA to win the rematch in Pauley but I reserve the right to change that after seeing how things go tonight.

I think if the Wildcats play defense like they did against ASU (especially after the first 10 minutes or so), UCLA will wilt and we'll win by 15+. If not, it's anyone's game but obviously you have to give the edge to the home team. You mentioned earlier that you thought that Howland would play us straight up but we've struggled much more against the zone. If they man us, our athleticism and quickness could cause a lot of problems. I'm getting antsy, the clock isn't moving fast enough. As always, it will probably turn for us on the play of Lyons and to a lesser extent Solo.
