49-31 at the half. This team is clicking at the right time. UCLA is commiting their fair share of unforced turnovers, but UA continues to take advantage.

YES!!!!!!! It's a great day when we beat UCLA! Nic Wise has to be the Player of the Week. Once again the big 3 played great and Fogg again was a key player. McKale was rockin'!

HUGE win!

Pretty much locks the Cats in for the tourney providing they don't completely melt down and go 1-4 to finish up.

Great win for the Cats. The week off should give the big three much needed rest. One note on the game, I can't believe what a dirt bag Drew Gordon is. He went into the game and was mouthy and making dirty play after dirty play.

Watched it all. Very good. I remember very well, Mao's superior know-everything post mocking my suggestion that both ASU and UA could make the tournament AND both finish ahead of UCLA.

Oh well, one fan does not nullify a fine team. Go Cats. Any game UCLA loses is a good game. Somewhere, Russ is blamming the refs right now for Howland's complete lack of an offense when UCLA can't get easy layups off turnovers.

I still believe UCLA will finish ahead of the Arizona schools, their schedule down the stretch is much easier than ASU and UA. I've also held firm that ASU and UA should make the Tournament.

And no good words for the Cats? This was a huge win for the program! Even you have to admit that! ;)

As I've said before - this run has been a nice distraction while we wait to see who we hire in a few weeks. Very fun team to watch considering my expectation level for the team when we were down 10 at home To Houston with under a minute remaining. Kids like Nic, Chase, and Jordan deserve this kind of success considering what they were put through over the last few years.

Two more wins to number 25.

Gordon has been chippy all year. Weird too I saw him a lot in HS and he wasn't that kind of kid. But he's been getting in arguments and things in virtually every game, he seems to be looking for it.

The worst was Hill gets fouled, Gordon blocks his shot and yells loudly and then barks at hill. What the hell are you celebrating he got fouled and made both shots?

Gordon needs to learn there's a lot more to the game than being a great athlete. He's a good kid but he needs to tone himself down a bit I've been saying it all year he's going to get a T that's going to hurt us if he doesn't get under control.

Ugly game I only saw the first half and had to leave after that.

The myth of Jrue Holiday continues to be exposed, nice player, will be very good eventually but not even close to the player he was hyped to be by all the scouts. He can't shoot, he can't even shoot a jumpshot he shoots everything on the way up.

Actually the first half was all about UCLA playing bad defense and UA playing good defense forcing To's. I thought we got hurt by the refs in the ASU game specifically the charge call on Collison which essentially everyone admits was a bad call. This one, not so much on Dave libbey, UA just took it to UCLA today.

Sort of like how UCLA handed Notre Dame their heads last Saturday.

The guys on ESPN said the charge call against ASU was the worst call they have seen.

As for today's game, the UofA was the better team today. You could just see they were more pumped up and ready to play. Also, Terry and Bayless gave a pep talk to the guys before the game. I also liked how Russ had the team walk through the student section to get on the court before the start of the game.

Strong statement game for the Cats! Seven wins in a row and heading to ASU on the 22nd. I honestly didn't think things would go this well without Lute! Congrats to the :cats:!

The last few months have been like living in "fairy tale" land for me. The Cats football team made it to a bowl game and beat BYU in Vegas. The Cards made it to the Super Bowl. And, the Cats basketball team, after loosing Lute and all the recruits, is poised to make it to the NCAA Tournament. Unbelievable.

The momentum this type of season has on bringing in a new coach can't be underscored.

If not for the national embarassment the Suns are this would be quite a run of success sports wise for me.

As it stands this has been the best football year of my life. Dream like.

Agreed and the big 3 got help from both Johnson and Fogg. That's the problem UCLA had only 2 guys were scoring, DC and Shipp. UCLA fans keep complaining they were selfish but someone has to score and the rest of the team was reluctant to shoot or turnover prone. That's Jrue's problem, great passer, good defender, can't shoot a jumper to save his life.

"Nic Wise makes a better bowling ball than point guard."

- Scout.com's UCLA Honk and West Coast "Talent Evaluator" Greg Hicks

In all seriousness, it was a nice win and probably gets us in the Tournament barring a complete meltdown but UCLA isn't the UCLA of the last couple years. Their only good wins are home w's against Cal and Arizona and a roadie against fading USC not to mention the Bruins OOC resume is embarrassing.

Sure, that's true. But nationally, UCLA (overrated or no) was still a highly-ranked team that we beat. Might not mean much to you or anyone else in the state of Arizona, but I'm thinking it will mean something to everyone else around the country. (Whether it should or not)

To the alumni, beating UCLA is alway a big deal. This team has really impressed me this season. They could have packed it in, but they didn't. Arizona is still a proud program.

This was interesting stat I saw:

Arizona has won seven straight games, the Wildcats' longest winning streak in two seasons. Arizona's six straight Pac-10 wins are the longest streak of any Pac-10 team this season. No other Pac-10 team has won more than four this season.

I agree, it puts the program back into the national and especially in the west coach college hoops spotlight which is not only good for the current team but for a program looking to hire a big-name coach. The last few years have illustrated how easy it is to win basketball games at Arizona which along with our boatloads of cash should make finding a proven winner a relatively simple task.

Not Russ who gave Arizona their props, but some UCLA fans are blaming the losses this week on guys on their team having the flu as if any team in the country right now is 100% healthy.
