Jarvis's facial expression doesn't really change though once Bidwill mentions special teams (no shock or surprise) so I think they went over that with him when they put him through a film session & told him all the ways they felt he could improve/contribute to our team.As soon as I heard what Mike B said regarding "contribution to D and Special Teams" I thought to myself, oh man, does Jones knows he signed up for ST as well, since he didn't play that in Pitt? I wonder if he thought to himself, "Oh Sh*, I wasn't expecting that". Like when you come back from the grocery store and your SO yells at you for forgetting the milk.
I don't know, I thought that whole last five seconds was pretty funny to me...
Not disagreeing with you (you have acces to info I don't have) but I have to observe that - when our FO guys spend their time worrying about whether another team's fans are laughing their asses off at us, they're in the wrong line of work.I guarantee you the Steelers and their fans are laughing their asses off at us.

Oh, that shouldn't matter to them, nor does it. It's merely a comment on the player.
I just think this is another case of our FO thinking they're smarter than everyone else, that they can turn him around. I don't think they can (clearly), and neither does, well, Pittsburgh.
I think it's more like our FO is taking a one year flyer on a player to prove himself. I see no risk in this signing on our end.
The risk is that it kills our depth at the position. It especially kills us if there's an injury and we suddenly don't have anyone that can start and have to rely on hot garbage to fill in.
I imagine he might still beExactly. I would have much rather seen Sio Moore resigned.
I thought he was still on the roster? A lot of us like what we saw in him when he finally got a chance to play.Exactly. I would have much rather seen Sio Moore resigned.

What does Sio Moore have to do with signing Jarvis Jones?

Nothing! It has more to do with Buc, Dansby, Fua, G Martin, and Wright, who are our current inside backers.
The question is... Does Moore have more (no pun intended) value than the three other backups? Does he play special teams? If so, I'd rather have Moore back because he's proven to be able to step up as a starter. Not sure Fua, Martin, or Wright are anything more than special teamers.
Well, Moore was who we turned to when we had to put someone in so I would assume he hs shown more than those other guys.
Well...they both play the same or similar LB roles (although the way Bettcher shuffles the deck, you can never be sure what those positions or roles actually are). What does Sio Moore have to do with signing Jarvis Jones?

Based on superficial input only, the impression I get is that (before the latter part of last season when the blitzes worked) Okafor was said to be more a kind of straight-linish edge-anchoring SLB. Based on his play of late, doesn't J Jones have a similar profile?
Good answer: What do you think?Had we signed Sio, would anyone be saying that he's stepping into Okafor ' s role?

If they sign him, he backs up LOS & BUC.
Jones signed a $2.2 million contract with a $1 million signing bonus in free agency, and as a former first-round pick, the hope was that he could rejuvenate his career in special packages on defense with the Cardinals. Instead, his impact has been negligible, and Capi is trying to take advantage by turning his dark-horse chance into a spot with the team.
