You do realize that our run defense improved when Clancy was in the lineup, right?

Or fail to realize how much more improved our OLine was when Brown went to LG to replace Wells when he moved to OT. Anyone that says Brown was beaten out of a job is simply wrong, he never was given a chance to retain his starting position, the minute the first camp started they put Ross back in the lineup and moved Wells back to LG.

I guess we'll just blame those offseason signings on Green and give a free pass to the front office (even though that hasn't changed one stinking bit)--they lasted ONE season and were both signed to multi-year deals, it seems like they felt they were worth it at the time.

But whatever, they are gone now, time will tell if it was a smart move or not.

Yep. Practices in shorts are pretty meaningless for linemen. I'd rather see these decisions made after real hitting starts.

But, there was never any doubt in my mind that Whis would turn the roster over a lot harder than we were led to believe back in Janurary when he was hired. I bet there will be a minimum of two dozen brand new names on the active roster.

If we win, no one will care about these cuts. If Reggie Wells is getting dominated at LG like he was last year and we're losing, and teams are running up the gut on us, then this move will appear to be stupid. Obviously, I hope that's not the case.

Too bad it clearly doesn't make us better to have cut them both but it was pretty clear we expected both guys to refuse the paycut so I guess it was inevitable.

Who knows, maybe we'll end up signing back both guys for less money.

Hilarious. I don't seem to recall you lauding Denny Green when he gave career scrubs like Justin Lucas, LJ Shelton, and Steve Bush the same treatment he gave these guys.

From a talent standpoint, I doubt we miss these guys too much as Brown/Clancy are marginal players. What bothers me is that we're even in a position to have to cut people considering how much money we had a few months ago and having added very little if any talent to the roster since then.

I think the Cardinals have handled these players with class. They gave them the option to restructure and the time frame that would allow them to sign with other teams. Kudos to management on this one!

They didnt ask them to restructure, they asked them to take a paycut. Very bid difference in terminology. One is just a rearranging of what they are already making, pay cut is well a pay cut.

Other then that, Clancy's agents comments are pretty good PR for a FO that is still not seen in a good light among the rest of the league(potential free agents).

Now we agree on something.

How about you package both players for a blocking TE ?

Why we didnt trade them?

Cap space. If traded their pro rated bonuses would count all towards this year. If cut they can spread it out over 2 years. Hence they wouldnt be getting the cap space they are in need of. Painted into a corner.

We are talking Milford Brown and Kendrick Clancy. Milford Brown was a waste before the Cards signed him and Clancy, although servicable, is not a big enough difference maker to shed a tear. Some are acting like this is when they cut Centers. They are releasing two no names back into the FA screen on Madden. No big deal.
No big deal? Do you know who you have for NT on the team? Why don't you check it out... Brown was pretty solid. So we will have Wells playing that position for which he sucked terribly. And check the results of the OL for the last 6 games or so with Wells on the RT and Brown on LG. Whoopie. I'm so excited.
