Some comments by Chris Karpman. The waiting game is a dangerous tactic.

I thought all would be well though if they didn’t take the Big 12 deal??? Karpman is as plugged into ASU and NCAA athletics as anyone out there so he realizes the obvious truth in that missing this train is an essential death sentence.

This has gotta be a tough pill for Michael Crow to swallow in multiple ways.

I don't think you are going to find many Sun Devil fans standing behind Larry Scott and Michael Crow.

Should just call him Michael Blow. ASU is going to be a bag holder on a really crappy stock, just because Blow has no foresight or gall. This is embarrassing.

So are Arizona, Arizona State and Utah going to be a package deal?

$20 million? :(

xc_hide_links_from_guests_guests_error_hide_media
Jokes on him! Little does he know all of us have useless packages already so we can watch the network. I pay 50 bucks a month to Sling just so I can watch PAC 12 sports!

In all seriousness, it's starting to look bleak.

Yeah. That's not going to work if true. I think 25-30 could have, but 20 million is just not going to cut it.

All streaming that would be an add-on to AppleTV+ sounds unworkable for casuals.

You’re the only ASU fan on here who seemingly understands how detrimental ending up in the hybrid Pac-Mountain West would be to the university.
It would be terrible on so many levels. The concern I have is this may be where ASU ends up

No, he isn't the only one.

Chris Karpman is on KMVP this morning (like now, as I write this). It will be interesting to hear what he says.

Canzano has mostly been an unapologetic Pac12 honk, so I take most of what he says with a big grain of salt.

I figured if anything great came out of the meeting today, it would be leaked to the media.

Soon there will not be any bushes to hide behind.

Football teams struggle when they don’t have financial resources to be competitive. money for NIL, coaches, locker room makeovers, etc are far more important than the time zone the games are in.
I’m amazed that other ASU fans can’t see and admit this. They’ve been complaining about ASU’s NIL situation for months, but now want to ignore it.

We might need you to brush up on the meaning of the word "elite".

Only U of A fans think their program is elite - no idea how you can realistically compare U of A to Duke/North Carolina/Kentucky. If you think U of A is in the same universe as those teams, you're delusional.

Don't believe me? Here's a list that puts Arizona hoops in proper perspective:

If Lute stays at Iowa, UofA goes from a one coach wonder to a never was. Do we really need to go into how poor the post Lute era has been?
This might be the greatest self-own on ASFN ever. If being #13 out of 363 division 1 basketball programs isn’t “elite” then you’re right, I don’t know the definition of elite. Top 3.5% of programs. Not elite. Lol.

Dude - nobody watches Oregon State football outside of Corvallis, just like nobody cares about Washington St. outside of Pullman. That's why they're in the most precarious position.
Nobody watches ASU, period.

Five PAC-12 championships and four Elite 8’s after Lute btw. Basically every program in the conference would kill for that sort of production over a fifteen year stretch in both in hoops and football.

And yea I realize zero Final 4’s.
Not to mention multiple nba draft picks, highly rated recruits, top seeds in the tourney (even if they’ve blown it). These things matter. But I get it, as an ASU hoops fan it’s a foreign universe.

Arizona isn't an elite program - it's just not

It's a consistently very good program - like a larger Syracuse maybe

Just not the top of the top - which is fine - that space is reserved for just a handful of programs
