Doubt it. Minnesota is the best travel team in the NFL, IMO.

They ALWAYS pack the stands. Whether we are good or bad.

No way they travel as well as the Stealers, Pack or Cowpies. Not a chance.

Not sure it is the travel, but those who live here, I have 32 ee's at work, and 4 of them Packer's fans. They buy tickets for one game, their Packers.

Need to get it next week because last two are gonna be a bitch

That might not be true if Seattle is locked into a wild card spot by then. Not sure if Pete would sit some starters or not if that were the case.

DJ was hurt, banged up his knee, that's why he was out for a while before returning late.

I wasn't particularly happy with the play calling either - but at least we didn't do what the Vikings did, and give away an easy chance to tie the game at the end. What the HELL were they thinking, taking more than a 2-step drop and quick out to the sideline? The fumble was great, but even a sack would have ended the game, there would have been no time to spike or kick as he would have been on the turf at about :08. Stupid, stupid call. BA in that situation is slinging it outside quick, Palmer puts it where we catch it or it sails incomplete, then take your chances with the tying FG try. They didn't even give themselves that opportunity.

WE'LL TAKE IT!
Didn't think it was a bad idea (nothing BA wouldn't have done). They were trying to take a shot in the end-zone for the win and Bridgewater held the ball a little too long. QB has to get the ball out quicker.

The bad -

Defense leaving guys so wide open there wasn't any DB's in the picture. Happened all game. No wonder Teddy had so many yards.

The O in the redzone. How do you take DJ out of the game and go backwards when you need a TD? Our inability to get 2 yards when we need it is unreal and will come back to hurt us.

The good -

DJ running hard. He did miss some cuts that would have led to more yards. So glad we have him and hope that he continues to develop. Out gaining AP on less carries is something.

I was the one saying Freeney had to earn his money and he came through with a huge play to seal the game. Good to see

CP made some really nice throws under a lot of pressure.

The ugly -

This team does things to itself to put ourselves in bad situations. The missed plays, the mistakes and not covering players leaving them wide open is really bad and needs to be straightened out before we get into the playoffs.

forgot one of "THE GOOD"... Cat hitting his longest FG of the year, a major clutch kick to give us the lead from 48 yards. That and the Cincy game winner should kick give him confidence going into much bigger games to come.

I don't think this can be understated. Cat's confidence in close games is huge for any hopes of a deep post season run.

Play calling I agree. On the winning FG drive we pass the ball incomplete stopping the clock. Why not run the ball and force Minny to use its last time out before the Cat Man's FG.

Other than that I am very pleased with the victory.

I'm iffy on that call. On one hand, you're right. Force Minny to use it's last timeout and either pick up a few yards or maybe a first down or at least run off a few seconds. BA is not a good clock manager when it comes to this. On the other hand, don't know where the communication breakdown came from, either Niklas or Fitz, but 2 receivers in that close proximity seemed like a busted route but if Fitz comes down with that ball, the game is effectively over so I'm 50/50 on it.

Another bad was tackling. It was atrocious at times and many of their big gains were the result of poor tackling. On one, Johnson gave no effort at all and basically just stuck an arm out. Get in there and put a shoulder in!

Another good, I just heard Minny's radio call of the last play and it's almost like they were expecting it.

My buddy is a huge vikings fan, we've known each other since Kindergarten so we were texting during the game. As they lined up on 3rd down he said "should kick on 3rd down, risky". Then the strip sack and he texted "crap, told you so."

I'm not sure if they should have kicked on 3rd but the ball has to come out quicker than that. Hell Bridgewater could have airmailed it out of bounds, he did that twice to avoid sacks wtihout a grounding call, apparently that's allowed now.

Well we had 2 guys open for the first but unfortunately too close together and one tipped the ball so the other couldn't catch it.

I was fine with that call, a first down there essentially cements the game unless you miss the FG, and you might score a TD.

It is going to be 50/50 according to some reports on ticket sales thru secondary markets.

honestly, these estimates make me crazy

i can absolutely guarantee that there will not be 32,000 packer fans there

were there Viking fans there last night? yes. I would put it at 15% -- 20% is the absolute max -- meaning i was counting more than 5 people in red for every one person in purple

btw: crisper, i know you are just passing that estimate along --- but generally, the times when other teams fans have been in great numbers is when the Cardinals are having crappy seasons. If the Cards were 2-11 right now instead of 11-2, there might just be 32,000 GB fans at the next home game. This is a front running town, and that cuts both ways.

It's actually been really mild here...rained a lot the past couple of days. No snow on the ground right now...although it sounds as if that will change next week.

On that last pass...I expected it and expect nothing less from BA.

It's simple, completed pass = victory.

I see the bashing of the defense a bit, but I believe it was more about our scheme than the players.

I get it why we blitz. However, TOO much of anything is not good. We should have SHOWN blitz and dropped out way more than we did. That would have forced Bridgewater to make reads and throw into tighter spaces.

That being said, what did we do on the last play? Exactly that. Bridgewater saw a sea of red with nowhere to throw it. He hesitated and it cost him.

Here's another good. Six weeks ago the talk on this forum was, "Well, we'll see what this team is made of with 4 of our next 6 on the road."

Result: Undefeated. A grueling 6 game stretch where we defeated the reigning NFC Champs in their house. The now top seed in the AFC. A Viking team that has 8 wins and two division opponents.

Well done Boys. Take some time off. Get rested and get healthy!

I said this in the Packers thread....

The most outnumbered I have EVER seen Cards fans at both SDS (The McCown miracle game) and at UofP (2008) were against the Vikings.

Too Many Purple Jerseys In The Stands-Makes me want to live back in AZ all the more. Saddens me that there are so many opposing fans in our house. The GB game isn't going to be any different I fear.

that will never go away, too many brokers have season tickets

The D gave up lots of passing because we game planned to stop AP, not bridgewater and sending extra blitzers to fill the gaps kept leaving people open. It wasnt beautiful but it worked

I wanna watch the game again, but I'm pretty sure all those underneath routes that broke open for the Vikings were the result of a rub play. There was one where I really wanted an offensive pass interference, but it wasn't called.

Also, the defense had one mission. Stop AP. You stop AP, you are likely to win the game. That's why Bridgewater had a relatively good day. Make him beat you and he didn't. Almost, but he didn't.

I agree... the vikes were running crossing routes all day to get in the rub and it was very effective against our D

As brilliant as Norv Turner was the entire game, that call was the most Norv Turner thing he could have done. I've watched enough Norvness throughout the years to come to expect him to just shred defenses all game only to go full Norv and get cute at the end and blow a game. It's his milieu.

The unfortunate part is, there is going to be a LOT more yellow and green in the stands in 2 weeks than there was purple tonight. It's hard to avoid the opposing fans here because weather and transplants. We just to make sure we as fans are louder. I'll be there for that one and do my best to drown out the cheese heads

I will be doing my usual "go back home" every time they start their stupid chant. Let me tell you, they really, really hate that.

odds and ends:

for the second game in a row-- Cards at the 30-ish in FG range and they take a sack on a third down play, pushing well out of FG range. For as well as Carson has played, this just can't happen.

I think we will see the Minnesota defensive approach from people (esp. if they play Carolina) in spades:

Two high safeties over the top to take away the big scoring play. Tolerate the Cards running the ball, and keep completions underneath. Make them convert third downs, and settle for FGs in the redzone. Ultimate bend but dont break. Yards but not points. This keeps the score in low 20s and gives your offense a chance. Turnovers are a bonus.
