Anyone consider who his backup is and what he's done in the past? Maybe Young's had a little birdie chirping in his ear?
Maybe, Kerry Collins should help VY deal with the drinking problem (alleged).

IMO, this is what happens when the team owner doesn't listen to his GM and others within his administration.

Oh my. Sounds like Namond Brice on the Wire.

Nothing good can come of mom whining in the press to "just love and support my baby boy."

*slap* "WeeBey would be ashamed of you!"

I agree with the depression/bipolar angle. He sounds like he's got some demons to battle. Does that make him less of a man? That's for Shane H to decide, not me.

Still, it's amazingly disappointing for a pro athlete to react to adversity like this. I feel bad for Titans fans and the team that now has to play with this over their heads.

Oh and Renz... you avatar. D-E-A-D.

I was referring more to the rumor about Collins quitting on the Panthers. Collins has denied it(damage control?) but stuff like this doesn't make his argument much better:

According to the book, Collins told Accorsi, “Ernie, I dreamed about playing in the National Football League all my life. The Eagles, the Giants, the Redskins, the Bears. But I found myself playing for the Carolina Panthers, wearing this funny-looking uniform, and I didn’t even feel like I was in the NFL. That started my problems.”

If that's the type of stuff he's feeding Young, I can imagine why he's a little confused right now. I still don't think he's a very good NFL QB but it would be a shame if he was having to deal with mind games from his own teammates.

He should give his money to me and I'll play QB for him.

FIFY

Of course I would need it to pay for the hospital bills. But my 2 plays in the NFL, one being a sack where I fall down on purpose to avoid the rush, and the second being just handing off the ball to the other team's Linebacker, would live on forever.

:)

We would all call you a baby when the Dolphins made you cry.

I need more pass protection. More time in the pocket to find the open man. Because in this case, time is indeed a friend of mine.

This must be what happens when you cross Ricky Williams with Donovan McNabb's mother...

A whiny UT grad that doesn't want to play (or does he?) and a protective mother who wants people to leave her (million dollar) baby alone.

I smell a chunky soup commercial right around the corner!

Young's been coddled his whole life and now he doesn't have the skills to deal with adversity.

Coddled by whom exactly? You might want to read about his life growing up and at Texas before making an ignorant ass statement like that.

Hey guy's if you don not think that what we have to say doesn't get back to the players you are badly mistaken. They are all real people just like us and have feelings. Some get motivated, and some don't. It looks like Vince Young has gone to the darker side on this one. We all have feelings some of us deal with it and some do not deal with it very well.

Let us be more understanding of Vince's Mental Health. We have a Young QB in a similar situation on our team let us hope that Matt will be motivated to prove people wrong and become the Player we all hoped that he would. Just give these young men time to grow-up. Making big bucks is not their fault it is the fault of the system they all have become a part of.

Just trying to be a little more compassionate.

What I don't understand from VY is just because you were booed in your home stadium you should just quit? Maybe he needs to call and talk to Mcnabb who has been booed since the day he was drafted and until now. Or talk to Eli who has been booed and massacre in New York media until he led them to a SB win.
