So far we have the following players already participating in voluntary workouts:

Steve Nash
Grant Hill
Robin Lopez
Josh Childress
Channing Frye
Earl Clark
Gani Lawal
Matt Janning

Dragic and Turkoglu will be playing in the world championships so they won't get back for awhile. Dudley is currently working out in California and twitted that he'll be back in Phoenix late next week. That only leaves Richardson and Warrick. Pretty good for August.

When does the real training camp open? The pre-season schedule starts on Oct 5, which seems early.

Follow him and you'll know. Nothing too interesting, he's like Jared Dudley except without the media savvy. And without hinting that he wants to play somewhere else. :D

I haven't followed Jarod's tweets but does anyone really believe he's not headed straight to Amareland as soon as possible?

New York seems to be a fit for his personality. Personally, I like him as a player, but his media schtick is getting too over-the-top for me.

I like him a lot as a role player but every now and then he says something that makes me think he considers himself more than that. Maybe I'm just misreading between the lines. And you're right, he's certainly not scared of the mic or the camera.

Too bad Jared's not the caliber of Amare so he'd better keep working hard to get playing time. I like him and his game so I hope he follows up last years season and sticks along with the team.

Also good to see Earl Clark on the list. I have low expectations for him but I have not written him off completely. Go Clark!

Someone needs to do a poll on how many airballs Earl Clark will have this year! :)

I guess I will throw this thought in here.

I'm hoping the Suns are actively looking for another big man to add to the roster as Steve Nash obviously recognizes the need. See article from Paul Coro at azcentral dated 8-27-10. As an example I believe the Jazz are looking at Elson... not that he would be a good fit here.

"It disappointed me because we were close and we're going to miss a big piece, but I think Robert went to or beyond where anybody could ask him to go," Nash said. "This franchise would suffer a severe risk if Amar'e ever got hurt, so I understand why the last two years were guaranteed only if he played 22 minutes a game. I can't fault Robert for that. I can't blame Amar'e. He got that money guaranteed. It's just a shame.

"We're small again."

Nash hopes the team adds a "legitimate" big man to go with Robin Lopez, Channing Frye and Hakim Warrick but said it must rely on chemistry, intelligence and shooting.

Paul Coro just tweeted that Amare has joined Suns workouts wearing Suns shorts.

Not really anything to get worked up about, just thought it was funny.

Amare lives here and knows the players. There have been guys from other teams who live here that works out with the Suns.

I'm curious to know if there are informal workouts in New York. There weren't in Phoenix (at least of the same sort) before Nash.

Well, duh. Of course that's why he is there--that's why he was ALLOWED to be there as well. Just thought it was funny that he was wearing Suns shorts.

Not sure if this is confirmed elsewhere but according to SBnation (via Dudley's twitter feed), Steven Hunter is in town and is a part of the voluntary workouts: http://arizona.sbnation.com/2010/9/7/1675220/phoenix-suns-workouts-jared-dudley

Also present was former Sun and another local resident Steven Hunter. The eight-year NBA vet said he's talking about training camp opportunities with the Suns and Rockets. Recently married, Hunter is hoping he can make the Suns roster as a back-up center.

*edit* Confirmed by the republic and sounds like chucky atkins is in town looking for a gig too: http://www.azcentral.com/sports/suns/articles/2010/09/07/20100907phoenix-suns-voluntaryworkouts.html

JRich was at the Dbacks game tonight so he'll probably be joining workouts in the next couple days. All that's left are Hedo, who is still in Turkey, and Dragic, who I'd imagine will be in town by the middle of next week.
