Wow, I took a two hour nap after checking the website all day for cuts/starter info.....all the information you can miss in that time.....

Its no secret I wanted Leinart to be the starter. He is young, talented and was tagged as our QBOF. Honestly, he was given an unfair shake after one preseason game last week from the media and the fans.

With that said, I have no doubts that KW will do just fine. The only concern I have with this offense is the line, and they have shown this preseason they are ready and focused to get the job done. For example, Gandy not wanting to come off the field after suffering that knee injury because he didnt want to leave his guys.

With that said, I hope the puke and vitriol directed at Leinart ceases. He is not a "bust." Too many people, including some of you on this board, want to give him the Ole Yeller treatment. At least you guys arent as bad as those morons on the azcentral.com blog. Im confident Leinart will come back and prove to the world he is a worthy starter.

Whiz has really put an emphasis on this team winning more road games. That is why he's going with the more experienced Warner in the opener. Leinart's worst games tend to be on the road, which is understandable for a young QB. Warner definitely gives us a better chance to win against the Niners on the road. That being said, I still see Leinart as our starter by midseason.
I love Wiz and our QB situation (wanted ML to start). That being said, the ONLY way now I hope ML is our starter is if KW really sucks it up or gets injured. If he does this wishy washy stuff at the QB spot this year (especially if KW if getting the job done but has medicore numbers) he risks losing the players respect and both QB's confidence level will be shot.

He's committed now. Warner gives us the best shot at winning, but at some point we really need to know what he have in Leinart.

I really believe the competition was very close and in the end it came down to experience. Thats the 1 thing Kurt had going for him, the ability to recognize defenses and adjust to them.
JMHO.

I think that has a lot to do with it. Teams may think twice about blitzing the crap outta Warner. Matt? Perhaps not as much.

Kurt will do fine. And when he gets hurt or struggles, Matt will do fine.

I'm simply happy this crap is over for the time being and people can stop losing their damn minds about a decision they have absolutely no say in. Whew!

I think you misinterpreted my statement. I was not saying that Leinart would outplay Warner against SF, I was pointing out that Warner turns the ball over. It is what he does as a QB and is the main reason I don't think that he will ever be more than an average starting QB in this league. Good quarterbacks get rid of the ball and Warner holds onto it trying to force a big play.

...That all being said...GO CARDINALS!!!

I was in the Leinart corner, but I will stick to my word and support Whiz's decision.
Go Cards!

I was too. Its hard to see either QB playing all 16 games. M Leinart will get his chance this year. K Warner named the starting QB means we had better not lose the opener to the 49'ers. The Cardinals should destroy SF. IMO, the only way we don't is if QB screws up.

I was in Leinart's corner but Kurt totally deserves this. IIRC, Whis said it was not just play on the field, but also preparation during the off season, workouts, etc. Clearly Kurt is in much better shape this year than ever before. And Kurt clearly has a bond with Fitz, so that can't hurt.

Yup, lets get on with it.

Hopefully Matt gets to do plenty of mop-up work cause we're beating teams up!:newcards:

Well, I took him over Jay Cutler (like an idiot) and David Garrard in my fantasy draft, so he better perform well.

Oh my. You jinxed us. Put it on ASFN record right now. Shogun violated the #1 rule of footballdom: Never, ever homer your fantasy football team. (Are you listening Jeff Gollin?)

A great passing QB with two excellent receivers. Id say Warner was a great pick

Winner winner chicken dinner. This is my feeling as well not to mention I think Fitz and Boldin, two of the most important guys in the locker room, behind the scenes pulling for someone who is more effective at getting THEM (as in exclusively) the ball.

In a perfect world Kurt will go in and get us that all important win in week one and then Matt will get a start for one reason or another and never give it back.

But Warner BETTER get us into the playoffs or this was the wrong decision. The funny thing is I could see a repeat of last year except reversed where Warner costs us games at the beginning of the season and Leianrt comes in an wins down the stretch. Leading to a off season of "Well if Leinart had started all season....."

Or at least that's what will be coming out of my mouth;)

Warner still needs to check his competitive nature at the door a bit. He needs to play within the scheme and not force things. A check down croosing pattern to Breaston or an outlet to Edge, JJ or Hightower is not a bad thing.

Man, am I glad I didn't post my thoughts regarding Warner on this thread, or I'd really be embarrassed now.

Luckily, no one will ever know how wrong I was back then.

I would have looked at the stats and agreed with the decision. Of course the fact that I'm a Warnerphile helps too. :p
