One of the things I absolutely love coming out of each NFL draft is the reactions from players receiving one of the best phone calls of their lives. When the call comes telling them that they are about to be selected by their NFL home, the pure emotions and celebrations that ensue on the phone and with family members and friends is priceless.
Four Ohio State players were selected in the first round on Thursday night, with wide receiver Emeka Egbuka becoming the first Buckeye to come off the board at No. 19 thanks to the pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (from the Bucks to the Bucs). And yes, there is video and audio going around of the moment he received the call from the Bucs brass.
Maybe you're not a softy like me, but if you are, these are always enjoyable. Watch and listen as Egbuka receives the phone call, shows gratitude, then heads into what looks like a throng of family and friends to celebrate the occasion.
I'm sure we'll get more of these reactions as the draft continues on -- after all, the expectation is that somewhere around 15 Ohio State players are going to get drafted through the three-day event. In other words, more to come.
