It just goes to show that you can't predict which former players are going to make good coaches. Apparently "everyone said" that Watson was destined to be a great coach, but now that he's in the role, he's pretty obviously one of the most inept head coaches the league has seen in the last 25 years. It looks like scouting coaching prospects is no more reliable than getting ready for the draft.

Yeah, the Suns are bad, but this is ridiculous.

Replacing him mid season won't do much. Keep him around for another top-5 pick then overhaul in the offseason. I'd even take a shot on Blatt if he's willing to give the NBA another go.

Yeah why would we want to get rid of Watson now? The west is still loaded and tough.

Local media all impressed with his motivational style of talking but bottom line is he is a poor coach. He doesn't teach fundamentals, he is really not developing the players. But he sure sounds so profound. He talks the talk but doesn't walk the walk!!!

The only problem with keeping Watson, the young players will continue to learn bad habits they may never unlearn.

I would like a coaching change now. It will probably take the rest of the season for the players to unlearn bad habits.

Even with a coaching change it will take time to start playing better.

They could bring in Pop mid season and we wouldn't see significant change. One more year being putrid then overhaul it.

If this team has less than 5 wins after 20 games the Suns will probably have to let Watson go.

He's 33-84 overall and it doesn't look like anything is improving.

Sorry, but no. Both our offense and especially defense would be much better. There is a huge difference in coaching at the top versus the bottom and it does make a difference.

Disagree. Maybe with a full offseason and practice time is a new coach going to implement a new system and see significant results. They're still the same players.

I think we agree. The Suns need to bring in a head coach so they hit the ground running next season. I do not want the young players to regress further. I'm not expecting a new head coach to create any miracles this season.

Another year of bad habits could ruin our young players. Even if we don't win, we need a change. These players need coaching, not the "Mr. Rogers" of basketball.

Naw... things are going good. Watson fits the tank perfectly right now. No one is getting ruined forever. Players mean more than coaches anyway. A high draft pick in the next draft means more than Watson.

Miracles? No. A difference? Yes.

That is a consideration. I personally am for letting him finish out the year as I too am all in for next year's draft. Then the tank endeth. I don't think he's going to "ruin" anybody in the meantime.

Sadly this is the case already. It needs to change. If the Suns were not going to play defense they would have been better off hiring D'Antoni.

I'm all for dumping Watson quickly to keep from doing any more damage to our youngsters... heck I wanted him gone last year. If that spoils the tank, so be it.

Too bad Ulis is not recovering well from his surgery... he'd help some...

Whaaa? Buddy you did a 180 from your August post on the tank thread.

For one thing no one can "prove" how much damage is being done to youngsters. The fact that they are young they are already "damaged" to inexperience. Are the suns bad because Watson stinks or do the suns make Watson stink because they are young? Who is damaging who?

As far as blowing our draft and not getting a potential superstud center... forgetaboutit. No one is getting in the way of that. Sarver will tank it up once again.

Thanks Sarver! :notworthy:
