There doesn't seem to be any lights going on... He looked lost & confused the entire time he was on the field.

Personally i won't draft any defensive players with the first two picks until we have a new DC

If it makes you feel better Hasson Reddick finished his rookie season with 36 total tackles (23 solo) while Zaven has 24 total tackles (13 solo) with significantly less snaps.

I'm still choosing to be hopeful. Seems like we have really blundered our 1st round defensive picks when it comes to how our coaches have developed them. So I still have faith in his ability as a player even if coaching is holding him back.

Man has it come to this for Andy?

I still think Kliff was setting up a deep shot to him in the 3rd Qrt but protection broke down.
I think the time is now for AI, if KK isn't gonna use him for a few deep shots a game, at least one considering the WR's we have out, then he's gonna be no more than a ST player for us his whole career. Hell, I was shocked to even see him in on a few snaps. He has the straight line speed, if he doesn't get jammed because he struggles with that, why not run him on a go route with a trail WR coming underneath? Doesn't hurt to try things on offense while Hopkins & Moore are out.

Not worried about Collins at all. Like not even a little bit.
Then you must be the optimist of all optimists, because he's shown nothing to warrant his draft status thus far, and has shown red flags.

Unless your point is that these football concerns don't worry you. In that case, Abide, brother.

I'm more worried about Collins than Simmons, that being said I'm not worried about Simmons because I know he'll be fine. I honestly think it's a Reddick thing with Collins, just gonna take time to figure out what position works best for him.

Yea I think guys like Ertz need that kind of room underneath as well.

These were Collins Positive traits in his draft and combine draft prospect profile (listed below). He never played LB until his red shirt freshman year in college and has only three years experience at LB during his college years at Tulsa, a All-American Athletic Conference school. We're not talking big time football here like the ACC, Big 10, SEC, PAC12, Big 12 conferences. He did not come out of college NFL ready or even near ready. IMHO he was drafted way too high and wasn't even a first round pick, yet somehow drifted up in the ranking purely on his athletic abilites. I think that was true of Reddick too. I don't expect Collins to have an impact of any sort for another year or two, maybe three. I think it's a waste of a pick when you draft on potential in the first round with the hope that the player will eventually work out. You end up paying first round money for a player that will not contribute until maybe late year two and possibly sometime in year three.

Strengths
  • Three-year starter and winner of Bronco Nagurski Award.
  • Consistent, impact production in all three seasons.
  • Freaky combination of size and athleticism for linebacker.
  • Range to make plays all over the field.
  • Sees opportunities to swoop downhill and attack holes in blocking scheme.
  • Size and knock-back power to take on blocks.
  • Burst and length to track down runners from backside.
  • Terrific second effort as a tackler.
  • Recovers from blocks and gets back into the play.
  • Plays disciplined team defense, filling his fits and spilling plays wide.
  • Good awareness of air traffic in zone coverage.
  • Reads quarterback and slides into passing lanes.
  • Had four interceptions in 2020, including two he returned for touchdowns.
