Really the first move I overly disagreed with this summer.

I'm still trying to figure out how the team with the second most cap space in the league couldn't get the numbers to work when trying to sign a QB who ended up signing for $2 million. Especially when the alternative was sticking with a 37-year-old Colt McCoy who looked cooked last year. What did Monti offer?

Michael wouldn't green light it.

It’s bizarre.

Let’s spin comments, Monti is allowed! He is the GM and listening to his offensive coordinator, who hopefully knows a lil sumptan about the abilities of the players. Whether Dobbs is better then all we have now or not. (Probably) They believe he is worth the flyer. If we get a quality back up at the most difficult position to fill in sports for thus amount, yea baby. Look at what we gave for Kolb, Rosen,
give Mount Monty a chance to make some magic.

like marrying an ugly woman, if she leaves, you ain’t out much.

There sure is an awful lot of handwringing going on around here over this…It’s a fifth round pick, which has about a 5% chance of turning into anything in the future. And Colt McCoys washed up, so who cares? We still have tons of draft capital. Lol

And we picked up a 5th for a backup tackle that was gone after this season.

I think a 5th is a bit rich. It's a 6th max for me. But that's just nit picking.

I'd just like to remind everyone of all the pages and pages of "Who the hell is Froholdt? He can't be starting for us. Never heard of him. We need an upgrade" posts on here that have now become "Actually he looks really solid. Super strong. Great mover. Might be the most athletic center we have had" posts after a couple of preseason games.

I'm a Monti lover, and I'm willing to see how it plays out. I wasn't thrilled with the trade, but I have to admit that I really haven't paid attention to JD, and know next to nothing about his play at QB. On the plus side I was happy to read that our GM and OC do know something about him.

Yes, those posts mean so much to the actual football yet to be played.

Is that snippy? Perhaps. Is tooting your own horn on how a player will be based on...ASFN board hype a star move? Ah, no. Can't let that fly :)

Chopper, you're probably correct, but I feel that Monti has a reason for making the deal. I wasn't very happy when we signed Froholdt, and Collier but now I am, so I'm giving him the benefit of a doubt. There might be posters on this Board who know more about FB than Monti, but I'm not one of them.
We replaced McCoy for a younger version. Management has a plan.

It sounds like they did. Kyle Odegard stated a couple times that they wanted to sign Jacoby Brissett, but he didn't want to sign with them. Now the news that they wanted to sign Dobbs earlier but couldn't get the money right (despite a boat load of cap space). Somers has also said they tried to shop in the free agent market but were unsuccessful in their attempts to sign better players.

If the Texans are decent next year and the Cards win a couple of try-hard games at the end of the season to knock them out of a top 3 pick, this offseason is going to look like a nightmare.
We have the chips to trade up to acquire who they want.

Dobbs is not just a younger version of Colt, he's a more athletic version. And I'm not saying he's better than Colt, just different. We now have three athletic QB's (Kyler, Tune and Dobbs), so that should make for easier game plans, that won't need an overhaul once Kyler returns. JMO.

Take a deep breath… let this play out. Just imagine if The K boys were still here.
Nothing done to this point has made us a worse team. We won 4 games last year. FOUR! We have a piece of junk car that’s getting sanded down and removing the rust.
We all knew this. We all wanted this. Let’s just hope the new paint job turns out good. We won’t know that for a while.
