Okay, I got to know. How much of this info is in your head and how is due to research. Either way color me impressed because to even have the thought to look some of this stuff is amazing. So are you very clever or a freak. :)

Actually I was comparing our picks in older drafts when we'd finish 5-11 to the ones we get now as far as # overall. For instance Rashad Johnson was taken 95th overall, closer to some of our previous 4th round selections than say Darnell Dockett and Adrian Wilson who were taken 64th overall.

And it just kind of jumped out at me. :)

And then there is this.....

Ecchh. How about you say "tea leaves" one more time?

tea leaves?

Call it what you want. Reading between the lines, understanding inference, actions speaking louder then words, whatever. If you take what the head coach and NFL FO's says verbatim you are naive. I love how you act like you never read into anything or draw conclusions from a half story.

I do read between the lines... when there are lines to be read. I don't make up lines and then fit my argument into them... such as Dansby not really being a captain and that he was it by default... not because the players/coaches believed in him.

No no no - Cheese only discusses the black and white. Far be it for him to make an educated guess or think something tht wasn't spelled out for him word - for - word.

right... that's me. Mr. Black and White. Sorry dude, but your educated guesses have very little to do with anything we've seen on the field or heard off it. That's called making **** up, not making an educated guess.

Seriously do I have to keep explaining this? Do you not see the level of risk in a ONE YEAR DEAL (no matter how much the money) and locking a guy up for 6 years at 30 million guranteed when you worry about his work ethic and team play.

you do realize that for three years they worked on getting a deal done with him, right, while throwing 8 million bones GUARANTEED for two years, which would is HUGE upfront money? Or are those more facts that means absolutely nothing to you?

I mean really because if it doesn't make sense after that, I can point you to a Power Point or a Sock Puppet show to explain further. Jesus.

ah, now he's getting nasty. I like it.

Hey Cheese. When was Docketts deal redone? A week ago after a offseason of **** and coming to offseason work right? right?

sure... but all Dansby ever did was **** and after his one questionable offseason in 2006, he was NEVER insubordinate like Dockett was, who had already got his. So what's your point?

The organization has showed they pay the good players who do things the right way. But I guess Dansby is the one excpetion over the last 5 years;)

Q, Leonard Davis, Calvin Pace, Rolle... hell, even Warner had to go to San Fran to get us to pony up. Yeah... this organization has a spotless record when it comes to paying sought after guys who hit FA or are about to.

Docketts always been a warrior who played hurt and worked hard.

Dansby's just as much a warrior as Dockett IMO. Dude played an entire season with one shoulder (in a contract year when he could have easily shut it down for fear of doing more damage to it) and are you saying the coaches and team made a guy who didn't work hard their CAPTAIN? Come on now. What kind of sense does that make?

He was just rough around the edges. Just because you didn't hear Dansby speak out against the FO, isnt' it pretty telling he left as soon as possible?

I think a guy who never got what he deserved from the team leaving when he had the chance is pretty telling. Dude felt disrespected and took off. I don't blame him.

And would never be called a "warrior" by any definition of the word.

Dude played with one healthy shoulder the entire last year... if that's not a warrior, I don't know what is.

Dockett wants to be in the Ring of Honor, Dansby wants to be in South Beach - does that REALLY no make sense to you? Or you just being smug because thats your shtick?

smug? Finest, you brought Dansy up in the first place then called a bunch of people who responded cry-babies. But I'm the smug one here. I sometimes wonder if people even think about the things they write before they write them (TJ that's just for you ;))

facts? LMAO. You cherry pick information that fits your argument facts guy. Maybe on planet cheese you and these facts must make you the king of the empire, but here on earth we are used to your discussion tactics and read right through you. or at least I do.

sheesh... you gonna challenge me to a fight during recess next? Relax. It's a message board.

Fair enough. I can dig it. It's just gotten to a point where we are bitching about two players who clearly didnt want to be here.

And the funny thing is ASFN posters hardly discuss Boldin anymore. Strange, isnt it?

I think we did have a short thread on how well Q played Sunday but Anquan is special.

He is one former Cardinal that few fans dislike even with him leaving so you don't get too many long threads that consist mainly of he sucked;no he didn't debates. We all know the guy played his rear off for us. Same thing with Aeneas Williams. I don't know too many people who hold a grudge against him for going to the Rams at the end of his career.

One thing those two have in common is that they were very bright spots in some otherwise dismal seasons. So that could explain it.

Man you are on a roll here! Remember I said "last season" it was offered to him.

ah... you're right. I completely misread what you wrote. My bad Cardiac.

And BTW, quit with the "I sometimes wonder if people even think about the things they write before they write them" garbage.[/QUOTE]

I was wrong here... I completely misread what you wrote.

The next time you say that, look at your bathroom mirror, because right now, your retorts are nonsensical.

makes sense... my bathroom mirror's cracked!

IMO, Williams deserved a taste of success. Had he played for Dallas, he would have been known as the best corner in the 90s. Even Jerruh Jones acknowledged he was one of the best he'd ever seen. It's nice to know that he went to the Superbowl with the Rams.

#35 is my most favorite Cardinal of all times. I was there when they retired his number. It was a great experience.

All time favorite Aeneas memory. Took the bus from the Vine to SDS for the Redskins game in 2000 and the driver got lost. No kidding! So we're late.

Got to our seats just in time to see Mr. Williams take off on his 104 yard fumble return. AWesome.

Some of us got a little concerned about people saying that our guys only play (or played) hard in contract years. They deserved to get WWIII dropped on them.

That was the play that effectively got Prop 302 passed to get the new stadium built.

even coming from a guy who really likes Washington's potential, I think it's INCREDIBLY premature to call him a beast.

Oh I agree. Beast is like #4 rank on the adjectives you can describe a player. Here's the list.

1) Stallion
2) Sicko
3) Freak
4) Beast
5) Beast mode

Daryl needs at least 2 seasons of play for your reasonably allowed to toss a term like "beast" around. Seriously didn't you read the manuel TJ????

It's really not that big a deal. The base of this long going argument is that I think Dansby was a selfish, financially motivated free lancing player and although I thought his production was good and undoubtdly had some big plays for us in his career here, I certainly wasn't as sad as some are to see him go.

Cheese, DJ, and K9 are obviously in the other camp, or think that he was big cog for us to lose.

Hopefully at one point Dansby sacks his own QB in Miami so he can reach an incentive and I can be proven right :)

Cheese and I both have strong opinions but I don't hate him over it. I just very much disagree and am going to respond as such.

But yeah, Branch had a pretty good game :D

Just to be clear, getting 6 tackles, one of them being memorable, and not making any impact plays makes you a "beast" in the NFL? What was Greg Toler then last week with 13 tackles and 0 big plays (or passes defensed)? What was Adrian Wilson with only 2 tackles but a sack, 2 INTs, and a blocked field goal attempt?

Adrian Wilson is a beast.
Darnell Dockett is a beast.
Larry Fitzgerald is a beast.

Daryl Washington is a promising rookie who hasn't distinguished himself in any way once the bright lights came on. Those plays against the Washington Redskins' third team don't mean squat now. Those plays against the Houston Texans' second team were so long ago.

I mean this thread has gotten ridiculous - how are you and K9 going to tell TJ who he can and not call a beast? Its a subjective term. Its an adjective. He could very well call a 5th round pick from Fordham who has never seen the field a "beast" and how could you really argue with it? There are no rules to call someone a beast LMAO.

Its not like he said "Future Hall of Famer" Daryl Washington or something.

And Cheese I hope you realize i CAN be smug - but only once someone talks down to me. THAT I am always going to respond in kind with;)

"Beast" is a noun. Duh.

If every player in the NFL who collects 6 tackles in a game, or every linebacker who weighs 230 lbs is a beast, then the term is rendered essentially meaningless.

I cant believe Im about to do this but here goes:

In the context it was used, it was an adjective. This is what we call a "colloquialism" also known as "informal speech." Sorry, perhaps from this point forward, I should use formality so is to avoid your contrarian stance on what I have now discovered also applies to "improper" english. Amongst other things.

And this is where difference of opinion comes into play. Washington has passed my eyeball test based on his potential, motor and overall demeanor. Therefore, I refer to him as a beast; whereas, you refer to him essentially as a scrub (like you do most players on our team).

I have to go with TJ on this one. Just like we can call AJ Hawk a scrub those that like Washington can call him a beast.

But I think Daryl Washington is going to be nothing more than a quick guy who gets lots of tackles chasing but gets run over otherwise.

Dude, no it wasn't. I'm an English teacher. You have no idea what you're talking about. I'll write this at a middle school level in the hopes that you'll be able to understand. You did go to the University of Arizona, after all.

Noun: Person, place, or thing.
Adjective: Describes a noun.

Describes: provides more information about.
a: indefinite article introducing a noun.

"Washington is a beast."

If you were actually using the word "beast" as an adjective, you would say "Washington is beast," and you'd sound.

The cool thing about colloquialisms is that they are pretty subjective in the way they're used. So me using "beast" to describe someone, which is very common, is fine except in your eyes

So as an English teacher you should know what a colloquialism is but apparently you don't so I challenge you to reference a dictionary on that term. If you spent time correcting slang on this board along with throwing our players to the wolves, you'd be unemployed. In the grand scheme of things, it really doesn't matter. You really need to relax about this subject. I'm dead serious.
