The OP thought the Bibby trade was worth ANOTHER thread, and reposted the link there. :trout:

Hmm....

1. Cheapskate owner, notorious for not spending the money it takes to acquire or retain good talent? Check.

2. Broken-down, out of shape 30 year old point guard? Check.

3. Top scorer who averages 18 shots a night so he can score 20 points? Check.

Not to mention that the team has been so terrible for years, Hawks games are no longer shown on TBS. Yeah, I bet it's rough being a Hawks fan. You have my sympathy.

Really Sacramento? Sheldon Williams and Salim Stoudamire? Here's an idea. Ask for good player that can help your team. They should be able to get one of the following: Josh Smith, Marvin Williams, or Al Horford.

Why would Sacramento even consider this trade if there is not more than garbage in this deal. I think Bibby is very attractive in a trade to many teams in the NBA. Even if these two players from Atlanta are expiring contracts, I do not see it unless there is much more in terms of quality added to the trade.

Maybe JJ. :)

iirc cleveland was looking to get bibby ealier in the year to surround james with another guy who can shoot. they probably could have gotten better stuff from cleveland than salim stoudamire and marvin williams.

IMO the biggest problem with the ATL pick is that at the end of the season when the east goes into full tank mode the Hawks will continue to play hard having nothing to gain by losing.

If the front offices of crappy teams actually played the games, Id buy this. I dont believe players (especially with the sefishness invilved in the business side of the game) purposely tank games (their egos are too big) in order to increase their lottery chances.

ATL will play til the end. All the teams will. If they start to tank it's because theyve given up, not because theyre shooting for increased odds and not-for-sure-thing like the first pick in the draft...

It looks like the Hawks are down for the count....

That pick is looking good???

Sorry but there is Big New coming in Hawks country!

It was said yesterday on Fox News Radio:

Then it was confirmed by the Hawks beat writer.
http://www.ajc.com/blogs/content/shared-blogs/ajc/hawks/entries/2008/02/15/trade_rumblings.html

This will give us the PG we need. He can shoot the 3pt, steal and get the ball to the open man. No one needed this more then Marvin Williams and JJ.

The Suns only hope is that we still have A SORRY ASHER COACH!

Congrats that you think the JJ trade is finally going to work out for your team. It only took 3 years.

You are right about the players will continue to play hard. If you remember last year tank mode the teams started putting their star/good players on the injury list and did not play them. That is the Tank Mode.

If the Hawks are doing well come March 14 it will become very easy after that day.

I'm pretty sure I've never seen anyone predict a 17-game winning streak for a lottery team before. That takes some real guts.

I'm saying we could easily win 12 out of our last 17 games.

Why in the world would Philly, Chicago, Indiana tank any remaining games. There right there in the best of the worst race for the remaining playoff spot.

Especially when you look at how #8 beat #1 last year.

Except that the Hawks aren't going to easily win any of those games. Ten more wins this season is overly-optimistic, and I can tell you right now that they are dropping every single one of those back-to-backs on the road, doesn't matter which team they're playing.

Well, they did get an All Star and we got only Doris thus far. Not to mention Sarver's refusal to match the Hawks contract offer probably cost us at least one NBA title. What pick does determines the outcome of the trade.

Well I looked. When is the last time the Hawks won "easily"???

PS. Some of those team are not going to take with a legit shot at the last playoff spot. Not realistic.

It could happen guys, it could be that 15 of the last 17 opponents will try to tank the game and 12 will succeed.

As a Suns fan living in Kings country, I've seen a lot of Mike Bibby. He's still young, but everything I've seen this year (and last year) seems to indicate his best years are behind him. Maybe a change of scenery will help, but I wouldn't get too worked up if I were a Hawks fan.
