He may be our best chance at helping us to the 'ship THIS year with the team we have. We need another 2/3 that can "D" up, shoot the 3 with consistnacy and help take pressure off of Nash, Amare and Shaq. Artest is a mental case, but with Shaq and Nash here, and a major chance at the rings, I think he'll keep a level head. If it takes $11 million to help get us the ring, and Sarver is willing to open his wallet, are you really gonna complain?

Plus most Suns fans have been pining for Artest for awhile now, quite awhile before the Shaq trade, and now we're gonna bitch about it if it happens. Come on now.
I think you read his post wrong. He is just doubting Sarver's willingness to pay so much, and I am too. But then again, maybe $11 million is worth it to Sarver if it keeps Artest off of the Spurs. But I doubt that either.

^ not so sure about that, artest isn't exactly about team basketball and he could hurt them more than help them.

In a van...down by the river.
^Yeah thats always a possibility.....but with Ron Ron wearing the silver & black, teams will struggle to score 70 on 'em. They'll be able to nuetralize ANY frontcourt you throw at them. Not to mention (reportedly)that they'd be giving up garbage in Barry/Elson etc... to aquire him.

Its time to fish or cut bait. You either go for the championship or not. Its alot of money right now, but it isn't a mortgage on the future. Artest is a FA this summer.

So a denver source is saying the nuggets are 70% completed in making a deal for artest, and the spurs are 25% likely to land him, with the rockets getting 5% in.

A sacramento source says a deal for artest for barry, 08, 10, and another expiring contract is imminent from san antonio.

And we have a legit source on the realgm message boards saying atl for artest with the TE.

WTF

Here's another way to avoid the financial hit. Two separate trades.

Artest and $3 million to Phoenix for TE.

Second trade

ATL pick to Sacramento for $3 million.

Sacramento still saves more money than the San Antonio or Denver deal gets them. They still get Ron off their books over the summer AND they get a TE that they gives them more flexibility in signing players.

Renting Artest ends up costing Sarver $5 million--total, including the lux tax hit.

Kerr, it is in your power to BUY a championship for $5 million. Don't blink. Do it.

AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! i don't know what to think about artest. i cringe at seeing him pound the ball and grinding our ball movement offense to a halt. i gleam at the sight of him d-ing up kobe and crushing tony parker. i cry when i think of him alternating with bowen and horry to cheapshot every player on our team. it's ARTEST MADNESS i tell you!

(btw, no way do we land artest - too big a departure from dantoni's philopsophy and suns "clean" image)

He's not going to the Spurs. They just traded for Kurt Thomas.

Look at the players the Suns are being linked to trade wise.....

Ron Artest...............Played tonight for Kings
Quinton Ross...........Played tonight for Clippers
Yakhouba Diawara...Team didn't play tonight
Mickael Gelabale......Team didn't play tonight
Mickael Pietrus.........Played tonight for Warriors
Mike Miller ..............DNP in game tonight

If they're working a deal with several teams, then they are either not close or half these players aren't involved in serious or detailed talks with the Suns. Hopefully the Suns will get a deal done and we'll here more in the morning.

After tonight's game, I feel we urgently need a good defender. Bell went for 0 points and let Kobe pour 41 on us. I know Kobe is hard to stop, but at least Bell should hit 2 or 3 3p so we could have won.

I'm all for Pietrus, he is a proven veteran and would definitely accept a bench role.
