Birdman is Marion-Lite but with 3 more inches. Tell me he wouldnt fit well here to spell Amare/Shaq when we're still smallballin.

All we need is a swingman 2/3 that can defend and shoot, like Azuibuike, Udoka, Moon that goes for min. Wait, they are all signed accordingly by other teams, while we spent ours on useless Marks and Pike! :(

Pietrus would fit that description and wants to leave GSW but I don't know if it is possible to get him (and is BB IQ is far from good). Gelabale (sent in D-League by Seattle) is also a very good defender but not a great shooter. No big name here.

Pietrus is awesome. I don't understand why he doesn't play more.

We have the $8 million exemption from the KT trade and a $3 million exemption from the James Jones trade. I thought they expired 1 year from the trade date, but I'm not positive.

Cassell makes $6.15 million this year and is in the last year of his contract....although he'd cost us 12 million with the luxury tax.

I thought the Suns were only saving about $800K with the luxury tax savings
Marion $16.44 mil
Banks $3.966 mil
Total 20.406 mil and $406K more than Shaq's $20 mil salary so with luxury tax it's $812k savings this season. Next season it's more.

Yes, but I am pretty sure that you cannot combine them for a singular trade. You can have two separate trades and use both of them. If we were going to try and get Artest for example, we'd only need to throw in a pick.

Going that way there is a risk we become the western KNICKS :(

The Suns are bound to suck for a while, why not go the way of the knicks. They are much more entertaining than the Grizzlies or the Bobcats.

I understand your thinking, but that is if Artest is a key player on your team. In both Indiana and Sacramento, Artest was one of the top two players on the team. He needed to be a leader on the floor as well as off.

We've got Nash, Amare, Raja, Hill, and Shaq to provide stability. Artest could be that guy over in the corner, foaming at the mouth and breaking things--ready to be unleashed at key moments.

IMO Artest is the one player that would fill things out for us.

Artest is unrealistic for obvious reasons. Besides, Grant Hill coming off the bench for Ron Artest just sounds... weird.

Anyone know when the Suns must have their team to 13 members? There's gotta be a time limit after a trade or something.

Does anyone think the Suns are just looking at the NBADL or looking for a player that can give the Suns more? Perhaps the Suns could use Tucker somehow. Perhaps a small piece of the TE could also be used.

I propose that anyone who seriously suggests that the Suns pursue Penny Hardaway should be immediately banned from the board.

Agreed. Anyone know how long the Suns have to fill this roster spot?

Is that close to a trade scenerio? ;)

He would be our Dennis Rodman equivalent, with Nash and Shaq keeping him in check as opposed to MJ and Pippen.

I don't think there is anybody out there on the free agent market that I would want to see on this roster and give minutes to over DJ Strawberry. ZERO. DJ is going to give us just as much as any player out there for what we would be willing to pay them. The Suns just need to sign some stiff to fill out the roster.

Aside from getting someone who is bought out or cut, there won't be much out there.

Cassell came out last night saying he could help a team like the celtics. He then clotheslined Rondo so not sure how boston would feel about him. But SamIAm is definitely looking to be moved.
