The excuses that he hasn't played just don't cut it. I watched the Pitt-Miami game and they had to use all 3 of their QBs because of injury and all of them performed better than Matt today and 2 of them didn't sniff the field all year.

It's no longer an excuse!

Yup. Many Back ups with little to no practice have out performed Matty this year.

56 pass attempts coming into this game this year. Yup, no need to see any more. Might as well cut him before the playoffs.

our offensive line is getting manhandled, and that's our starting line. how can you defend that prep by our coaches, and that piss poor performance by players?

Because they always bounce back and play lights out following a beat down once something is on the line. This is exactly what I wanted to see. We'll kick the crap out of the Pack next week.

As for our offensive line they suck every week. I've been watching a lot of replays over the holidays and Warner is usually getting the ball out in less than 2 seconds after the snap. If he doesn't the pass rush is all over him. In addition I simply can't find a single running play where our oline, with the one exception of the guy releasing to block a LB, gets past the line of scrimmage.

I swear they pass block on run plays. Fortunately, like Edge before them our two RBs are very adept at making their own holes.

The two games where he had any meaningful playing time he completed 31/45. That was a vast improvement over the 50% passer that he had been in '07 & '08.

I'm not saying he's there yet but he hasn't had much playing time since having his game completely reinvented by Whis. After today, he'll have about 2 games worth of attempts on the whole year.

If you, or anyone else, can make a determination on his future based on that then you have a million dollar job waiting for you in the NFL with any team of your choosing.

Its nice that you just pull this season out as the only thing we have to Judge him on. Problem is we have a whole lot more than that. Matt is in his 4th year. In those 4 years has not had a ton of playing time but he has had a lot. When he has played he has not been very good as a whole. He should be able to manage a game and be accurate. He shouldnt still be inaccurate and leading WR's hung out to dry. Nor be throwing INT's regularly.

?

Are you watching the game? Yeah, the pack is going to succomb to our will next week. It's that simple.

Again, there is good football and bad football. I'm not even talking about winning and losing. Or vanilla or chocolate.

I'm talking about good football and bad football.

And no matter how much you try and pump that down our throats this game is MEANINGLESS!

What was Brees doing around game 20 of his career?

How many games has Leinart got under Whis? That's part of the equation as well. I'm not ignoring that Leinart has been in the league for 4 years but he essentially has what, 5 full starts under Whis and those were during Whis' least productive time as far as the offense goes.

Could be because Matt was under center?

Are you really comparing Leinart to Brees?

Man calm down. Go look at what happened after the Cards laid down for the Patriots and Vikings last season. Go look what happened after they took the week off vs Carolina this year. Against the 4and9ers this year. This team has turned cratering in meaningless games yet showing up big time as soon as something was on the line into an art form.

I have been a supporter of Matt for quite some time now but today has made me rethink the support.

It never was, well...except with the mixed up Leinart apologist club.

Leinart has 6 starts under Whis. He is 3 and 3 as a starter.

No, Warner looked like crap too in Whis' base offense.

Yes, at that point in his career. Brees didn't have the same expectations of course since he was a 2nd rounder instead of a 1st rounder but after year 3 of his career he completed less than 60% of his passes, had more INT's than TD's and lost 4 out of last 5 starts, threw 4 TD's and 8 INT's in those 5 games and essentially looked like a total bust.

Something just clicked and he was a totally different QB the following year. It's not a given that that will happen for Leinart but it isn't impossible.

C'mon man! What's happening to the Cardinals today has happened to many, many teams over the years when a game is meaningless. Football is an emotional game & there was NO reason for the Cardinals to be up for this game. I have a very good friend from Green Bay that has reiterated to me that the Packers coach NEVER goes vanilla, regardless of it being a meaningless preseason game or meaningless regular season game. We also know that Whiz is a guy who NEVER shows his hand in a meaningless game. Can the Packers beat us next week? Sure they can. But it won't be because of anything we're watching today. The Colts got crushed by the Bills today. SD is losing to the Skins at home. New Orleans has lost 3 straight & the Eagles are getting embarrassed. So what? They will all have a shot to win the SB. So will the Cardinals!

Dang it. I have been very patient with Matt and thought that he would be alright in time. I no longer think that. He just doesn't see the field well, and doesn't throw a good ball. We could be in trouble in the coming years if we don't get a QB developing in here.

I couldn't agree more and I've been a Leinart give him a chance guy since day one. He has just looked awful this year. Throwing high is a death knell in the NFL. Jimmy Ray Hart used to just drive me crazy with his high passes.

Matt looked pretty good as a rookie. This year, after the coaches fixed his mechanics and made him get stronger, it seems like he's been throwing high on a regular basis. Like you said, throwing high will kill any QB. I've been a Matt supporter all along but BSP being in the game probably means they'll be moving him this offseason.
