If Whis demotes or cuts Leinart, I will give up on him as a Card. Until then, I give the staff the benefit of doubt on continuing his development.

Yeah well people used to say that about Josh McCown.

Leinart just doesn't have the skill necessary to get the ball out accurately under heavy pressure. Which is what any Cardinal QB is going to have to do behind that god awful offensive line.

Made bad throws, though they were the right read.

Bad game all around, Matt didn't help his cause. But for those piling it on because "he hurt Anquan" I need only remind you of the Jets game last year and what "Kurt did."

OK...that was really bad. Maybe it's time to start searching for the next QBOTF

Another in the long line of USC QB phenoms.;)

Carson Palmer was a top 5 QB before the injuries, Matt Cassell has done well for himself and the Sanchise has played well enough as a rookie that even the New York fans are happy with him.

Matt still can't read a defense. And once he checks off his primary receiver he has no clue to where the other receivers are or should be. Same problem he always has. 4 years of the same thing with no improvement. Time to look for someone else.

It figures that the Cards would get the one guy who can't play.

i long been a closet leinart apologist. i had unbrindled joy when he was drafted. thought he looked good as a rookie. and always hoped that he would develop into an all-time stud. slowly my faith has been chipped away. today he convinced me that we should let him walk at the end of this year.

time to draft a new QBOF. i say take a stud early and maybe take a later shot at tebow. i know he's not polished, but his leadership skills and pure "football player" mentality may eventually surprise us. he'd need an awesome qb guru to help mold him, but it's worth a gamble imo.

If we were going to gamble on a guy like that I'd rather wait and get that kid from A&M in a year or two.

Not really. With Beanie and Hightower we could Trent Dilfer our way to the playoffs if we can shore up the D a little.

On second thought with that offensive line it wouldn't work.

I want Tebow too, but as a TE/WR/Special teamer.

I said a few weeks ago I would be on the phone trying to get Jeff Garcia in next year to be our number 2 and start the year after all while grooming our new QBOF (draft pick).

I beginning to become wary of what Leinart can become also. But it seemed to me the Pack was getting alot of pressure on him, hurrying many of his throws & reads. The Oline didnt have one of their better games today.

i haven't read through this thread but i'm sure i disagree with 95% of it. Maybe we should just have a sticky thread so every time Matt throws a bad pass people can go there and say how he needs to be cut, we need a new QBOF, or whatever else they want to say bad about him. You can't judge a guy until he's the man in real game situations where the game plan is tailored to his strength and weaknesses and he's got timing with the entire offense. I'll be honest,i didn't see the game until midway through the 3rd quarter because my wife messed up the DVR , but i don't care how anybody looked in this meaningless exhibition game.Especially a back up QB. From the little bit i saw, the guy we need to worry most about is Bridges.

Well throwing an interception almost every other pass doesn't instill confidence in the masses.

But forget LeINarT and Tebow. If we want a ready made QB to take over for Kurt its Colt McCoy of Texas. He's been Kurt Warner Jr. his entire career. Plays primarily out of the shot gun, has no running game, no pass protection, is extremely accurate, has great WR's and throws the ball 60 times a game.

if you didnt watch most of the game why even comment? Game planning has zero to do with missingcwide open WR's, throwing horrible picks, 3 all together but was saved by a holding call in the endzone on one. Listen we don't expect Matt to play perfect or be Kurt. But at this point he should be able to manage a game and be accurate. This is year 4 for christs sake. You see the Matt Moore's of the league and all you can do is shake your head!

I've been an avid Leinart supporter from the start, and still am, but today worried me.

Leinart is a much better QB than what he showed today. Unfortunately, these type of performances are happening way too often. The guys seems to have regressed significantly since his rookie year, most notably in the mental aspect of the game. Maybe things will change if he's the permanent starter, but my confidence is starting to waver.

We couldnt get that lucky for him to fall to us. The Niners would be drooling to get their hands on him.

But your right he does fit the offense, but would would you give up to draft him. Wouldn't he go in the 15-25 range?

McCoy is a mobile Kyle Orton. He has a very weak arm.

Tony Pike will likely never play a meaningful down in the NFL. There may be one out there that i can't think of, but name me one good QB that played out of the spread offense in college. Alex Smith and Vince Young aren't good NFL QB's either so don't name them. There's a reason guys from Texas Tech and Houston lead the college ranks in passing every year but never have a guy make it in the NFL.

So does Warner. Kurt has to wind up and heave the ball to get it down field more than 30 yards.

The Cards offense is predicated on short, quick, accurate passes to WRs who get YAC. 30-40 of them a game. From the shotgun. Just like the Longhorns.
