The Beatles.

Remastered.

After standing in the store for a very long time I decided to begin with "Past Masters" because it has "I Want To Hold Your Hand". If you are of a certain age you will know why.

For anyone who listened for years to these songs on scratchy, worn LP's and 45's these tracks are going to (*ahem*) BLOW YOUR MIND.

I'm happy and would like to thank Jesus for letting me live long enough to hear these.

Boysetsfire almost exclusively and Atreyu.

Also Nathan Gray's (boysetsfire) new band which isn't political but has similiar sound: The Casting Out.

Wonder why Boysetsfire never reached "mainstream" success.. almost all of their songs are great.

Boysetsfire - Still Waiting for the Punchline

Boysetsfire - Rookie

Boysetsfire - My Life in the Knife Trade

Boysetsfire - Empire

Boysetsfire - Full Color Guilt

Boysetsfire - Walk Astray

Atreyu - Becoming the Bull

Zebrahead - Falling Apart

The Casting Out - Lullaby

Violent Work of Art - Wars to win and wars to lose

Crossbreed - Breathe

John Mayer's new album "Battle Studies" is pretty good. Assassin and Perfectly Lonely are my fave songs, so far.

Skillet, Switchfoot, Toby Mac, and a variety of Christmas music most recently.

Just got a 120 GB Zune and am going through a lot of old music to add it since there is plenty of space.

Well, I might actually get out of my self-imposed hiatus and begin posting on here again.....

I've come across several bands since I last posted on here (also included some bands that I've mentioned before, but obviously been an eternity) and this is my top-10 faves:

Eagles of Death Metal:

the Doves:

Cold War Kids:

Spoon:

Cage the Elephant:

Franz Ferdinand (have discussed them before, however, this was released off their latest album...What an ideal opening act for Green Day):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-5L5McaBAY

the Killers (we've discussed them before... lord, are they amazing live):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZTpLvsYYHw

Black Keys (probably referred to them way back when):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dKXlgISd3iA

Passion Pit:

the Aliens:

I still listen to a wide range of music (including Jazz, Blues, Motown, Heavy Metal, etc), however, these are newer bands since '06-'07 that I've put on all my song-lists......

Hickman Dalton Gang. (side project for Jim Dalton of the Railbenders/RCPM and Johnny Hickman from Cracker). Saw them open for a Roger Clyne solo show...I'm usually not a big fan of country, but this is fun stuff.

I know there's not much interest in Classical here -- but I have come across a chamber ensemble, Cafe Zimmermann, that is incredible. Very muscular, energetic yet terrifically clean and precise playing. The album that turned me on to them is the Charles Avison Concerti after Scarlatti -- what fun music.

I pictured a bunch of beer-swilling soccer fans who play together for fun, and from their website, not too far off. (I gather they clean up well, though.) The name is from the coffee house/tavern where top European musicians from Bach's era (including J.S. himself and his sons, Telemann, etc.) came to jam and play experimental pieces after hours -- how cool is that? And that's how these folks play. Their interpretations of Bach are very controversial, but after hearing them, anything else sounds lifeless.

There is currently SLEW of derivative 80s music that I cant get enough of. Hipsters are funny. They are indie acts self releasing CaSSETTE tapes with digital download codes in them. Pretentious and dorky, yes. But the music is excellent.

Washed Out
Memory Tapes
Millionyoung
Four tet
Dan Black

Check em out, KLL, you have some new adds in your recent list of bands I tried to push on folks years back, so youre probably going to be the most willing to try something new...

The Beatles.

It's going to be all Beatles all the time for me because I just got my tickets to see Sir Paul at Jobing.com Arena. ('Course I listen to them a lot anyway.) I am a very happy person right now.

The Blasters. "Dark Night". Just rewatched Dusk til Dawn. They are on the soundtrack. Anyone using LaLa.com?

Not a band, but I have started listening to Kina Grannis. She was the Doritos Superbowl contest winner and got a record deal because of that.
