Camby could have made all the difference in the world a few years ago playing next to guys like Nash/Bell/Barbosa/Marion/Amare....even despite SSOL.

+1

No question Camby would have made a difference 3-4 years ago--even last year. But this year? Not so sure about that--we'd be a definite playoff team, but certainly not a championship contender.

I don't believe that moving Steve Nash at this point in his career will damage much more than the rah rah sector of the fanbase(which is a pretty large sector admittedly).

Too bad. This franchise looks foolish already(around the league)

Today,he's nearly done, and this teams core IS DONE.

Bottom Line: PHX needs to do whats best for PHX.
It's not an anomoly.

Have you seen this team play without Nash? They are terrible. He's the engine that makes it go.

You think we look foolish now? Your pipedream of Nash for a late first round draft pick and a roll of toilet paper will bring on the laughs.

Nash is nearly done? In what world do you watch basketball? He just dropped 16 assists last night. There are like 10 players in the league who can do that on any night, just once in their careers. He does it all the time. The guy is NOT 'nearly done'.

Is he the MVP of a few years ago? No, but he's still damn good.

The problem for this team is not Nash. They need a big man who can rebound and play the PnR. Full stop. They figure out a way to get that in a trade this year? Much, much better team and results.

Suns need to do what's best for the Suns. Trading Nash for nothing is not what's best, IMO.

I get that part, but lets not forget that Nash has been given the utmost respect since he was re-aquired here 6 yrs ago. He's been given the keys to the team, the face of the franchise,a say in personnel(including coaches),and he was given a nice contract extension when he was surely past his prime....and above all, this team took their best shot multiple times by surrounding him with the kind of talent that allowed him to become the great player he is.

So somehow a discussion about how to build for a better future turns into a post blaming Nash for, what, exactly? Being a standup franchise guy and busting his butt to win? I don't get this at all. Are you saying Nash is stopping the Suns from doing something? I don't see that anywhere in their or his actions.

Exactly. Someday the Lakers are going to have to figure out how to play post-Kobe Bryant. That doesn't mean they should give him up now to progress the transition.

If Portland continues to slide, perhaps they'll blow it up and we can make a bid for Marcus Camby. Camby would be a great fit in our system.
I'd rather made a big for Alriddge.

I have no idea what we can offer to get that kind of a player though.

Curious debate. After Amare jumped, I suggested blowing up the team and was hooted down. But the whole point of blowing up the team was to give up on this season and go for a premiun lottery pick.

The consensus was that Sarver wants a winning team and won't gamble on getting a franchise player in the draft. Oddly enough, the last time they did that they ended up screwing up the pick, ie '04.

Successful blowups are pretty rare. Portland looked good for a while but their bad luck on injuries seems to doom them. Chicago did a blowup and was terriblle only until the Suns had their pick. Sometimes a blowup like the Hawks back in the early part of the decades had to suffer through a long period of awful play, but did get good. Some like the Wolves never go.

Right now, it seems likely that Nash and Hill are staying. I think it is likely that J-Rich will stay if he gets a mid range contract for 3 years. We'll see.

J-Rich is playing like a close to max contract right now. He's been in the zone for months? I prefer to trade him for some young talent but if nothing will be given other than crappy picks then keep him. Earl Barron looks comfortable in the starting lineup and his aggressive play and hussle does make a difference. I like our rotations right now.

It's sort of like last season when Lopez was injured and Gentry started Collins at center.

I wonder if they will put Rolo back with the starters if Barron does well and the Suns go on a nice streak.

What a guy WAS making is not that important. J-Rich has had his run of bad teams and really likes it here. Shawn Marion gets $7.3 million after making almost twice as much per year with the Suns. Marion is about a year older than J-Rich.

JRich is worth significantly more than Shawn Marion. In a light FA market this summer he will command alot.
