I'm curious what you guys think we can get for Barbosa and Tucker.

I've seen a few ideas tossed around like Jack and Frye / Outlaw. I've seen Miller and Lowry though I like the Portland one better. I don't think we could get that much, but considering we have a few holes to fill I like the idea of moving these two guys together.

Jack/Frye for Barbosa is a good idea... not excited about Lowry's size or Miller's defense though.

I would actually prefer to trade for Ron Artest, but his behavior certainly is something to be concerned about.

Lowry is the exact size of CP3 and as quick too. He is a better defender than Rondo. I believe he has the potential to become an elite starting PG in the league.

Problem is Kings have Martin who is better than LB in every area and will be resigned. I think LB would be a perfect fit next to Roy, with a bargain contract. Considering they will have to resign Oden, Roy, and Aldridge to the max in 2-3 years, the contract size is extra attractive.

How about Barbosa/Diaw for Outlaw, Frye, & Jack. Frye is just wasting away on the bench and will next year as Oden and Aldridge man the 4 & 5 spots. Outlaw & Jack are about equal value for Barbosa and Diaw.

How about a 3 way with those two teams:

Suns trade: Barbs/#15
Suns get: Artest/#12

Blazers trade: Jack/Outlaw
Blazers get: Barbosa

Kings trade: Artest/#12
Kings get: Jack/Outlaw/#15

I would absolutely do that trade and I think the Kings would as well. I'm having a hard time thinking that POR would do that, though....

outlaw will be extremely difficult to get from portland after the year he had. swap him for webster or something like that and maybe you're being realistic.

I highly doubt that one. You ask any Blazer fan on any forum or in the street and they will tell you that they value Webster ten times over Outlaw. Don't get me wrong they do value Outlaw but not even close to the value they place on Webster.

I thought Webster sucked a fatty this year and wasnt near his potential output. Outlaw is a fan favorite up there because he is so much of an X factor in the game and pretty clutch when need be.

TBH I think Portland should do a Webster/pick for Marvin Williams/Claxton deal, and they would have an amazing young team that is water tight.

Marvin is doing very well. So, I have hard time seeing why Hawks would deal him.

remove the word elite and I agree. I like lowry, but he cant shoot enough to open up the passing lanes. He could be a starting point in a few years, but he'll have to shoot alot better to be a starting point for a winning team. As a backup to nash, he'd be a great addition. Problem is the suns need outside shooters, to get amare the space he needs to operate in the lane. That was a lesson from the spurs series, they jammed the pick and roll in the second half, just shut it down. Nash and Bell are NOT enough to get the spacing, especially if one goes to the bench. Spacing on the pick and roll will be less if one of the two shooters that will be respected must run the pick and roll. This is part of the reasomn that Diaw was more effective running the offense, that nash ont he wing created space for the offense. If the suns expect nash to be effective next year, they will need to add more shooters to open up the defensive spacing.

I am probably one of the few who believes we can get alot of help from this draft.

I would try to trade Barbosa for NJ's 2 first rounders. My logic being he is more of a SG than PG and with the 15th pick we could net a guy like Rush who is a more prototypical SG.

I would try to trade Diaw to POR for Channing Frye & their 1st rounder.

Draft:

#10 - Nicolas Batum
#13 - D.J. Augustin
#15 - Brandon Rush
#21 - Robin Lopez
2nd rounder - Richard Hendrix
Lineup

C - Shaq/Lopez/Skinner
PF - Amare/Frye/Hendrix
SF - Batum/Hill/Tucker
SG - Rush/Bell/Tucker
PG - Nash/Augustin/Strawberry

Where is your logic as to why NJ, who just made a huge deal to gain youth and rebuild, would give up two first rounders?

More importantly, why would Portland give up their ideal backup PC/F in Frye and their draft pick for freaking DIAW?!

I agree on the spacing issue. To compound it further, Shaq is here to stay for at least two more years. It's part of the reason that Amare/Nash pNr led to more turnovers than success then.

IMO, the most logical solution is to make Nash more ready of a spot up shooter role. And use more postups from Shaq, Amare and Diaw. He openly complained that we went away from what we were used to in the Spurs series. But DA didn't have a choice then, as a consequence that he never worked on viable alternatives earlier to prepare for this inevitable situation in playoffs, namely good teams like Spurs will force you away from your comfort zone.

In any case, reliable 3pt shooters who could defend well are needed. As to Lowry, Rondo came out with a much worse reputation as shooter. Now, he shoots just fine. Lowry has a better form, all he needs is to work on his game in a more stable environment than that of Grizzs.
