Since the season ticket sell-out, I've been reading about the 'diehard' fans have been there in all the weather sweating it out loss after loss and a 'diehard' fan is one who supports every decision or total trust in the coach etc..etc...

So I ask this, what is your definition of a "Die Hard" fan?

I don't think being a diehard fan means you have to support the coaching or management decisions, but you do need to go to the games, rain or shine, whether the temp is -30 or 130.

to be a diehard fan you need to root for the team through the good times and bad times.

Exactly, Arthur. You can't make game attendance the mark...many people are out-of-town and some in-towners may lack the revenue for something like football games.

It is for me to know on the inside if I am a die hard fan and for nobody else to be a judge.

Definition of a die hard besides me......A Cub or Packer fan. No matter what win, lose or draw nothing is better than watching them in person or at home. For a vacation you check the game schedule toi make sure you will be there or watching somewhere. You plan weddings around the schedule. You tape the game if you can so you can watch the gamer over and over that night and during the week again. You send letters of encouragmnet to every player pleading for wins. A room in your house has so muchj stuff ofg that team that even the rest of your family thinks your nuts. Your license plate reads CRDSFAN. You go out to the airport to see them off and home after an important game. You try to make short trips to cities that your team happens to playing in. You have to decide on a nice dinner with your wife or the new jersey that just came out and you eat at home. There is much more but I think you get the idea.

IF you have been a fan of this team since or before 1988 and have never waivered in your support, I think that you qualify as a die-hard fan.

When I mentioned attending games, it was in reference to the other thread talking about valley residents not going to games because it was too hot. If you live in Phoenix and consider yourself a diehard fan, you should be attending the games, regardless of weather. Out of towners abviously do not fall in that category. :)

I do agree with the other assesment that you stick with them through good times and bad (as most of us have).

I think everyone defines "diehard" differently. Just following the team and keeping up with the transactions is a task in and of itself. I feel that if you can get out and see some games or support the team in your own ways, that's diehard to me.

exactly. I'm friends with a 'diehard' lions fan that seriously wants to castrate Matt Millen.

Also, there can't be any of that "other favorite team" crap. No die hard fan cheers for two or more teams in the same sport.

wait...you can root for another team, especially if they are in the other conference.

Sure, you can root for another team, but you automatically lose "diehard" status.

woah there.

you can hold diehard status for more than one team.

especially if you are a converted transplant who still roots a bit for their old team.

Then what happens when those two teams play each other?

You are die hard for one more than the other, its a case of different levels.

We should create a scale to mesaure die-hardness.

Only one team to be a die hard. You come to arizona you root for the Cardinals you live and die by there wins and loses that is a die hard. You can not root for the J-E-T-S- Jets, jets, Jets...An be a die hard Cardinals fan...No, No, No!

I know, but I'd have been tempted to give some of those folks a pass until this coming season as well. I mean, living in the heat is one thing...sitting in hot metal bleachers where it's nearly impossible to get a drink without missing some action, and drinks are killer expensive...screw that. I've been to some home games, and loved them, but damn!
