What do the Diamondbacks do with Shea and others in the next few months?

The more Tracy plays the more harder it will be for Brenly to keep him out of the line-up. I think the Diamondbacks will find teams come July asking about Shea and even Mantei. I would hope Joe Jr. could trade those guys for a very young and talented pitcher.

It was either the Guv'nor or Ken Phelps who said on radio, during Sunday's game, that Brenly said he's going to give playing time to Tracy . . . and told Hillenbrand to be ready when he's called upon.

Hillenbrand will probably platoon at 3B -- starting vs. lefty pitchers -- for awhile. As much as I like Shea (oops, he made another error yesterday), Jerry probably has Joe, Jr, on the phone shopping him.

If we could trade a 20 HR-90 RBI 1B/3B for a #3 starter, that would be a good move. Remember, when we traded for Hillenbrand, the only legitimate middle-of-the-batting order guy we had was Gonzo.

We can hope, but their market value isn't likely to be anywhere close to what Joe Jr. has paid for their services. At best the D'backs may be able to wrangle some prospects--if lucky, perhaps one of those will be a decent player in the future.

Keep dreaming. Think middle to low tier prospect for Mantei unless he figures it out before the trade deadline and pretty much nothing for Hillenbrand. If the D-Backs are out of it and want to stockpile good prospects or picks their best bet is to deal either Randy or Sexson.

People don't like to deal pitching, especially MLB proven starting pitching.

I think it is very early to start thinking about trading Shea and Mantei. We should wait and see how Tracey and Valverde perform for a long stretch and make a deal during the deadline for some desperate teams in consideration that might be able to give us some help.
