Is it an inside joke or what?

I think it started as a Jureki thing.

"Put down the Kool-aid" is a term that means quit drinking because you have crazy ideas.

Kool-aid drinkers are those that are overly optimistic.

I think it's in reference to Jim Jones and all of his Kool Aid followers...

Jurecki used to say that all the time on his afternoon show with Bickley. I think someone made up that song and sent it in.

you have 2 sides....

You have the Kool-aid drinkers and the darksiders. If you are an optimistic fan you would be refered to as a Kool-aid drinker. If you are a pessimistic fan you would be known as a Darksider.
I hope this clears it up for you and with that I would like to propose a toast to this years Cardinals and their 2004 playoff run. Raise your glasses please...... :) !

It's kind of a cultural slang that's been used for years across the country and locally.

It's not limited to sports talk either.

BIM is a Kool-Aid drinker,.

Kool aid is a symbol of blind faith. In 1977 (or so) Jim Jones followers in Ghana demonstrated their blind faith in him by drinking poisoned kool aid in the belief they were headed to some kind of nirvana.

In the late 60's, Tom Wolfe wrote a book about Ken Kesey and the "Merry Pranksters" titled "The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test. Electric kool-Aid is laced with LSD.

Therefore, another possible meaning is that someone has had some electric kool-aid and is halucinating . . .

It's the same feeling most of us get after the draft, free-agent signings, and the hope that this season "could be it". Happens every year. I am a confessed kool-aider.

But this year, I really mean it. :D

Actually, it was Guyana in South America. Ghana is an African country.

Ok, I saw this in today's Kohl's ad and thought of this thread! It's a red Kool-Aid shirt!
