After an uninspiring start to his NFL career, Terrace Marshall Jr. finds himself surrounded by stars in Philadelphia.

The Eagles signed Marshall to a one-year contract earlier in the week, adding him to a receiver room led by A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Jahan Dotson.

The last time Marshall had this much talent around him was in 2019, when he was part of a dynamic offense led by Heisman Trophy winner Joe Burrow. Ja'Marr Chase, Justin Jefferson, and Marshall combined for nearly 4,000 receiving yards en route to a national title.

Quarterback stability is critical in receiver development, and Marshall is excited to be a target for Super Bowl MVP Jalen Hurts.

“That’s a blessing for sure, especially as a receiver running routes, you know who’s back there,” Marshall said. “You know that it’s going to be a quarterback that delivers you the ball, it’s going to be on time. He’s going to make the right decision, not just for him, not for you, for the team.”

Marshall was touted as a prototypical X-receiver coming out of college: good size, reliable hands, exceptional route-running, and game-changing YAC ability. However, he's been unable to combine his skills at the pro level, largely due to the turmoil in Carolina.

At times, Marshall has shown flashes of the player who caught 23 touchdown receptions over his last two years at LSU. His 6-foot-3, 200-pound frame gives Marshall an advantage in contested catch situations, evidenced by his 82.3 red zone grade via PFF.

Given the Eagles' run-heavy attack, Marshall is unlikely to play a significant role on offense. However, the former second-round pick can serve as a talented backup in case of injury.

A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith each missed three games last year, and the Eagles had to rely on veteran Parris Campbell to fill in. Marshall certainly offers more upside as a playmaker; we'll see if he can crack the 53-man roster.

Marshall has caught 67 passes for 808 yards (12.1 yards/catch) and a touchdown across four seasons.
