Legally I can call myself Native American since I am 1/8th Cherokee.
But the rest of me is all German, Russian, and Welsh so I don't look anything like a native american outside of my feet.

On my mother's side I'm related to Robert the Bruce (or sometimes referred to as Robert Bruce or Robert le Bruce). He was the "betrayer" in Braveheart

Robert the Betrayer, huh??
I've got one of those in my family tree (though not a direct descendant - Benedict Arnold would be a great x10 uncle. He was the reason the Arnold branch of my family settled in Ohio after the war. Even though the rest were patriots, the name Arnold was not too popular in CT.
I am about a third English, third Scottish, third German, with a little scotch-irish and dutch thrown in.

Brave Heart is one of the worst historical movies ever. Most of it is based on legend or the clever mind of Hollywood script writers. I watched a History Channel show where they totally destroyed that movie from a historical perspective.
Don't trust the portrayal of Robert the Bruce in that movie. He fought many more battles against the English than William Wallace, and was the true hero of the fight against the English.
The only problem for the Scots is that it didn't last long.

I am in the mortgage business and on every application I ask the client what nationality/ethnicity they are. Mind you, I do 99% of my business over the phone - so I generally never see the person who I am interviewing. So I ask this guy if he is white, black, pacific islander, etc. The guy replies: " I am a Hindu-European transsexual".
Normally, it takes alot for me to get tongue tied but I stammered for a few seconds and finally said: "I dont have a box for that." The guy laughed and said "No, man (hahaha) I am a white guy."
Embarrassed i checked the proper box and then laughed as well

I love the quote from the screenwriter in the History Channel special: "Never let the truth get in the way of a good story"
Of course, the most glaring inaccuracy in the movie "Braveheart"? The decisive battle historicaly was The Battle of Stirling Bridge. In the movie, there wasn't even a bridge!

One can only wonder as to what the true purpose of that questionnaire. It is illegal in my country to ask any of those questions...
