I agree with the take of Fitz looking slower on that 30 yarder. As has been mentioned he has never been a burner, however he had what I would call effective long stride speed because well, I can't think of any other way to phrase it and still have it be a compliment.

When I saw him running yesterday it looked like he had a hundred different moving parts. It was almost Fred Flintstone like in that his feet seemed to be moving really fast but he wasn't going anywhere. 33 yards felt more like 80.

I just hope his hands don't go the same way of his legs. Take the one that hit the turf and bounced up and into the DBs arms. That is a tough, tough catch to make for sure, yet he used to bring in balls like that 9/10 times. I guess it might be unfair but I'm is used to seeing him catch anything that he gets his hands on.

Still love him though.

He was running 20MPH on that play according to some stat I posted in another thread. The 5th fastest carry in week 1 of any player.

The contrast between Palmer and Stafford was stark. I read somewhere that Stafford audibled over 40 percent of his plays and with the long count he was able to see what the defense was set to do. Did Palmer audible even once? And of course he is not the most mobile QB.

As long as some corners of the league still regard him as one of the best pure defenders in the game, the answer is, 'something'.

Who are these people? People on this board?

witcard3: LOL calling the Lions "contenders." They might be contenders for the wild card, but they went 9-7 last season and were won-and-done in the playoffs. This is exactly the kind of team you have to beat to make the playoffs in the NFL. Stafford for his career is like 4-26 against teams with winning records. Bad omen for the season.

Yep... Playoff teams find a way to accept the gift that the Lions dished out in the 1st quarter yesterday... They did everything possible to give us the game, and we said No Thanks... Along with Johnson now gone for most, if not all of the season, I'd say yesterday was about as bad of an omen as a team could experience in the first game of the season...

Exactly what I have been telling everyone. They tried to give us the game and we said "no thanks we don't want it" and gave it back to them. Sad for sure to watch our favorite team which we all have been waiting months to see play just fall apart like that.

I wanted to respond to this but my brain hurts trying to decipher what it is you are trying to say. Man this was one tough read.
Sorry I was ill that day and my english was ... beyond bad, sorry for that.

But summing it up, the Lions are a contender for the playoff spots so if you don't bring your a game you lose. Carson Palmer was on Preseason/Rookie level that doesn't cut it.

The Lions are one of those teams that will look like a top 5 one week and a bottom scrapper the next. They are consistently inconsistent. Being sick sucks big time and can cause brain farts even though you are trying your damnest to say something coherent. Hope you at better now. From the little I saw it appeared Palmer was trying to heave the ball versus throwing it at times.

I had this as a 50/50 game. It was never an easy win like some thought. We'll have to wait and see if the DJ injury has shaken the Cards to the point where they can't compete. They didn't in the Lions game.
