What I would love NFL Network to do is have analysis of the entire game.....

As many of us have mentioned... it can be very difficult to tell if what our main problems might be... Is it McCown? Is it the receivers not getting open? Is it our OL? It's just too difficult often times to really know, especially when watching it on tv. I'm not sure how well Fitz gets open because I can't tell. To me last game McCown looked like he was checking off most of his receivers but I couldn't really tell. That same can be said with many facets of our defense too...

What I would love to see from the NFL Network would be a channel where you can see your favorite team being analyzed play by play. Probably with an over head camera so we can see exactly what is going on. This would add so much depth to the game and really show you how the players are playing and how the coach is coaching. I would pay a premium for that service....

I would like that for sure.

I wish they had it where you could access any game the team has played for say the last 5 years.

I wish I could find it but this reminds me of an article about 10-15 yrs ago in SI about digital TV and the possibility of multicasting. That is sending multiple video feeds on a single signal. The viewer could then split up the display to show what ever view you wanted to see or see multiple views at the same time. You would have the choice of the same views the producer/director has in assembling the broadcast. An end zone view would be valuable as well.

The technology is finally coming around where it could be a possibility in the near future.

Well I know they have it with ESPN..they sometimes do analysis with the overhead look, I think teams look at it too so it shouldn't be a problem...

I love the NFL Network. I'm addicted to it. I don't even watch ESPN any more.

I like your idea, but I don't think the coaches in the NFL would.

ESPN does some of this on NFL Matchup with Kolber, Hodges, and Jaworski.

Being at the game last Sunday, I can report that our receivers NEVER got downfield against the Pats. The blitzing was reason #1, and the #2 reason, was the coverage by the Pats. Ty Law was on Fitz, and he's so sly that he impeded Fitz without drawing a flag. Both picks were due to this. Law would rub him just enough to take him out of his route, and slowed him down enough for Harrison to get two picks over the top.

Who gives a damn what the coaches think? We're paying for the product and essentially we're there bosses. If the fans wanted it enough we'd get it.

I love the idea. I still think they should broadcast the games with nothing but the sounds from the stadium... no broadcasters. It would be just like you were there but without the line to the bathroom :)

The NFL Network.

Oh ok so what you're saying is they wouldn't try to make a big profit if they felt they could because a couple of coaches wouldn't like their customers to see the whole game and know what's really going on?

They did have something like this for awhile... It was dish related only... they did a test market, I think like 70 households... It did not do well and the cost was enormous... I believe subscribtions would have run about 300 a month, and that was per team... the coolest part was the remote that came with the unit... one of those large LCD palm pilot types....

Figures are somewhere in there...

SunCardfan-

No, the coaches don't want EACH OTHER seeing this tape.

The NFL Network is owned by the NFL. They'll do whatever they want.

hmm that kind of sucks :( guess there aren't enough people who really care about the inner workings of the game. I would think they could make it much cheaper, especially if a lot of people were interested in watching it. I wouldn't think the production costs would be too high, the tapes are already available and as Lex said The NFL Network is part of the NFL so they would have access to it. All they would need is a guy to analyze it, maybe a few guys...

Hey,
lurker checking in, All NFL coaches have sideline veiews and End Zone shots of all games against all opponents. What do you think Jon Gruden is doing when he pulls in to work at 3:30 AM?

Hey CardFan67, do you remember the article I am thinking of? It was all about the future of sports television. I had to be during the late '80's. I am pretty sure it was in SI.
They even had a part about interactivity and voting on what play they should call and so forth.

It is starting to bug me now because I was just talking about this the other day. At that time it was pretty far out but now with the video on demand and digital television coming to reality it is definately possible and probably for a lower cost than what it would have been there.

The trick is getting a big enough market that could afford it. NFL network maybe just the place to build and cultivate that market. The other trick is getting enough bandwidth for delivery of content for 32 teams.
