I have been at lacrosse practice for a few hours only to come home and see that we just got rid of our nickelback and our best pass rusher (when healthy). Somebody please fill me in as to why. If this was done to resign Q I will effing puke. I hope to God this means we are getting ready to get Julius Peppers or Sheldon Brown.

Any ideas?

The team must really think this guy Toler is gonna be the real deal. Either way, McFadden is gonna be gone after next year, so what then?

Look for a corner (as well as LB, TE and maybe (gulp) a QB) to be a priority in drafting next year.

I really can't think of a way to fit Peppers and our rookies into our 6 mil cap space. Thats whats so frustrating, the moves didn't even save us much cap space.

Making room for cheap labor is about as positive a statement as I can come up with in regards to dropping LaBoy and Hood for Davis and Toler. Two guys I'm not even sure make the 53 man squad, let alone dress, if competing against the veterans who were cut.

Color me irritated by the Hood release, it has to be something we're not being told outside of his play, possibly his attitude?

McFadden has a two year contract.

"The Cardinals have signed 26-year old DE Travis LaBoy to a 5-year, $22 million dollar contract."

"Free safety Terrence Holt signed a five-year contract with the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday."

"Former Dallas Cowboys center Al Johnson agreed to a four-year contract with Arizona on Monday, the Cardinals' first free-agent acquisition this year."

"The Arizona Cardinals signed free-agent cornerback Roderick Hood to a five-year contract on Sunday."

Don't forget Milford Brown the year before too.

Leave to it Rod Graves to mismanage the cap and not get extensions

*shhh* Don't question these moves. You'll be labeled a reactionary, and people will wonder how you dare to question our coach.

I would not be surprised if both Hood and LaBoy didn't end with Clancey in KC. If he doesn't go after them, then you have to wonder about their "talent", but I think he will try to get them. JMO.

Laboy 5 year/22 mill. Isn't that in the ball park of what Pace signed for? I know Pace had more guarantees but he also was pretty much guaranteed not to be cut 1 year into it.

Not quite. 6 years 42million with 22 million guaranteed.

I think with this move we made our 3rd deepest position (CB, behind WR and QB) a priority/liability again.

There's guaranteed (as in you get 22 million if you meet all the terms of the contract) and there's GUARANTEED, as in 22 million up front.

I doubt that he's not walking away with 22 million, more like 8... according to another post that I read.

I will be the first to say that I don't get/like these moves (outside of Edge). But I will wait for the other shoe to drop. If we use these dollars as part of a plan to extend Dasby, Wilson, and Q (or 2 out of the 3 at least), I will be just fine with it.

We have to assume that they think they can address the weaknesses these moves create through the draft or free agency. I wouldn't have said that a few years ago. A return to old form would not be to let these guys go, it would be to let Dansby and Boldin go. I'll echo an earlier statement and say that if this contributes to re-signing the above, I'm willing to trust.
