What is more important, a win or loss this week against the Chargers?

Also, we beat the Chargers this week and we are the talk of football....how we should have beat the bears and did beat the Chargers. This elevates the team in the Free Agent market and makes it more likely to sign Clements or Briggs, etc.

Absolutely.

However, if we do become the talk of football, Green's name will be included as part of the turnaround.

16-31.

That's Denny's record here, not the score I predict for Sunday. ;)

If it were, the Cards wouldn't even cover the 14.5 spread. :biglaugh:

I'm surprised Green hasn't tried to play the race card or buy the team out from under the ownership yet. Loser.

He has always played nice with the Bidwills. He's said nothing bad about them and given Bill Sr. a game ball at least twice that I know of. I think many of us expected the worst if he was to get fired. But, given his demeanor and comments the last couple of months --- saying he's done a bad job, the Bidwills expect better, etc., I don't think he's going to get ugly no matter what happens.

Or part of the problem why we DIDN'T perform to expectations/ability.

Hey man, I am with you. I am just playing devil's advocate. I think that if the Cards win this Sunday, they may look at the cost of hiring two head coaches, vs. keeping the one that we have, and just make him a lame duck coach next year.

Yeah, but there was support from the national media after last week's win to give him more time to finish the job. I imagine that the Bidwills can be swayed by that sort of thing, and it would only get much louder if we stun the Chargers.

Good points. I'm just one of those who never wanted Denny here in the first place and cannot wait for him to be gone.

That would be a horribly stupid decision and the worst possible outcome.

Please notice the Steelers and Cowher, who are in the exact same contract position, are not even considering that as an option. Either an extension will be worked out or Cowher will retire. Period. And Cowher would be about 50xs more likely to be successful as a lame duck for the Steelers than Green would for the Cards.

Which also makes it the most logical for the Cards......

Yikes. Not sure how Cowher factors into this discussion.

148-90-1 in 15 seasons. And a Super Bowl title. Four sub .500 seasons (including this one).

Because someone with those credentials is in a similar situation and bringing him back as a lame duck isn't even an option on the table.

I'll be at the game as well, leaving tonight..... I have a feeling that we will be competitive due to SD sitting/pulling their players during the game but I think we'll lose. As long as we play them tough I'll be fine with however the outcome goes. Go Cards!

Am I convinced they let him go or convinced they know standard economic principles?

No on both counts.

But I'm about 95% sure he is gone...

I agree here. I believe the turn around happened in spite of Green. Not because of him.

As long as the new coach identifies which players are responsible for the awakening.....and tags them as leaders, we'll continue with the momentum we've built.

With few exceptions, the Cardinals match up favorably with other NFL teams in terms of physical talent. Where we've fallen down has been in things like confidence, poise, concentration & perfection of techniques..

little else has to be said....the draft is as much luck as it is a "science" and is very unprediictable...to compare losing for a better pick or winning a game is rather outrageous................i'm going back to work!!

take a look at the number of first round/second round picks over the past four years are on the street looking for work in the league...you might be very surprised...we have/had a few ourselves!!

Correct me if wrong, but I thought - Cowher was coaching under the last year of his deal this season...

If they retain Green for monetary reasons, they need Economics for Pre-Schoolers advice.

95 was a good year.

It was a horrible year. That was the year Buddy Ryan tanked. Probably the lowest year, that or 03, as a Cards fan.

It was at NAU that I became a Cards fan, working the training camps. Good freaking times.
