I agree. I keep coming back to the "NBA-level players." There is a nucleus of Booker, Ayton, Oubre, and Bridges. After that, the Suns have Johnson who is overpaid, but he is a legitimate NBA-level player. Saric and Baynes are as well. Chances are good that the two draft picks are going to be competent NBA players even if they end up being career backups. That's seven legitimate NBA players, and two older rookies who *should* be able to contribute some. Even if Rubio is all they get, that's pretty decent.

Rubio/ Booker/ Oubre/ Saric/ Ayton with Johnson, Bridges, and Baynes off the bench- that's eight legitimate NBA players. Then you have Jerome and C. Johnson probably contributing some, along with one of the PG rookies from last year who don't get traded. On top of that, there will probably be some money leftover. This is all not including Jackson. I am assuming he is done in Phoenix, and if he gets traded, stretched, etc, I am assuming that cap space would end up being used on another rotation player. I don't think this team competes for a playoff spot, but they do look like an actual NBA team.

I will say this - if the suns do sign someone like rubio - it damn well better not be for more than one year.

They need a long term answer, and he ain't it.

I can't imagine that we'd get someone like Rubio on a 1 year deal but that would be my hope too.

On a smaller scale, Troy Daniels had a player option. I was almost hoping he would exercise his, but I think he could make more elsewhere.

I see his status is now UFA on NBA.com. So I think we have some cape space gained probably about just 3 mil though.

No, there is no gain in cap space. Nobody has been counting his salary.

Good grief Gambo is now saying Corey Joseph is our top target at PG in free agency.

I don't even know what to say - I guess it is time to fire James Jones.

Says we are looking into Wayne Ellington and Rodney Mcgruder also. WHY? We have no playing time for more wings

Good god, maybe they are going to let Oubre walk.

IT IS OFFICIALLY TIME TO PANIC

So the problem is, Cory Joseph and Ricky Rubio are both bad shooters. Guys a tier above are all looking for playoff team spots. I think problem is we will have to be patient to get guys left over from consideration by playoff teams. Everyone knows next season is wide open for playoffs, so I think most guys are going to hold out as long as they can to have a chance at the playoffs. So to get someone we wait, or try and target guys who want to come to Phoenix. That list HAS to be small of guys who wantg to come here. Plus price range wise, we aren't getting someone that knocks our socks off.

There is no way Corey Joseph is better than Tyler Johnson - NONE. The fact they are even considering this shows they are very incompetent.

Frank Cominsky, Mike Scott, Al-Fariq Aminu - Gambo says these are PF's we may target in free agency.

Because Gambo has been right about so much this off season? We won't even know if this is factual whatsoever for 9 more days.

So . . .

Warren

#32
Milwaukee first round pick
Cap space

For

Saric
Cam
Jerome
Baynes
Cory Joseph
Mike Scott

Excuse me if I’m less than thrilled with that outcome.

Oh, brother... if that is really the plan, it's worse than even I at most pessimistic could have imagined.

It agree that it also seems to suggest they very well might let Oubre walk. If they do that, and bring in any or all of the garbage Gambo is suggesting, there has to be a wholesale revolt by the fans.

That is pathetic honestly.

To have 30 million in cap space potential, and the number 6 and 32 and come away with well - 5 bench players(at best) and 1 so so PF is just not acceptable.

If we sign Joseph we are actually worse at PG than the way we finished last year. If we do lose Oubre - our roster WILL be worse than last year.

If that is what we do - I am rooting for Sarver to fire the GM before the season starts again.

It's definitely possible that Melton will surpass Joseph this off season.

Joseph has been a solid backup for a pretty good team.

The only way the Suns get better is if Ayton, Booker and Bridges become our 3 superstars.

Well he has been saying over and over again we are not getting D'Angello Russell. That seems to be coming true.

I hate to say "I told you so", but...

James Jones needs to be fired before the damage he does to this franchise is permanent.

This has been the case the minute we traded for Bridges. These guys have to take us there. Problem is Ayton, and Bridges are years behind Booker. Bridges and Ayton have to improve to get us better.

Melton has already surpassed Joseph.

Mark my words. This team will go 8-74 next season, and Booker will demand a trade in the process.

Sarver is the GM. That's why he hired Jones instead of a big name. I would bet my house that all the decisions are being made by committee.
