Adding Julius would bring another legit NBA player to our roster, let alone a starter.

No, it isn't. If I thought someone here didn't want to sign Randle then I'd be asking them why. I think some people could be overanalyzing his game in order to get prepared for him to pass us over but I don't think anyone is against signing him. I wouldn't be surprised if some think we shouldn't make him a priority in free agency but that's different than believing we shouldn't sign him.
Fair enough

Well mainly it comes from his dramatic improvement as the year went on, and his finishing the year with a stretch of over a block a game.

I am not saying he is going to be a great rim defender, but I think he will be good enough that we don’t have to have another shot blocker.

Please give me your opinion about this. Whether a player logs 12 or 36 minutes a game, does a 'stretch of over a block a game'
influence the outcome of games?

I understand that means more attempts at blocks per game. Which, by the nature of blocking, means more fouls per game for
most shot blocking specialists, which is not a good thing.

I also understand that, to their credit, shot blockers can alter shots. But what good is it if they foul out?

In the case of Ayton, he spent too much time guarding smaller players, because of the way he was coached last season and
his one year of post-high school experience as a Forward.

Even Brittney Griner, who blows the WNBA away with blocks on the Phoenix Mercury, doesn't influence very many games
because, as a big, she is a sub-par rebounder and an inconsistent scorer. Blocks rank low in importance.

One block per game doesn't likely mean that much but we can't have opposing players skipping down the lane for layups like we did last season.

Only way I’m giving 6 for Lonzo is if we get Ingram too. I don’t love Ingram but think he’s a perfect fit with Ayton.

Hope Gambo is right. I wouldn't take Lavar Ball for free.

Let's hope the Suns do not engage in a help the Lakers campaign.

I can see them offering the Bucks pick and perhaps a second round pick if the Suns want to go down that path.

I would do it for Kuzma as well, but that's the only way I trade anything of value for Ball.

I think the Lakers would be crazy to trade Kuzma short of Anthony Davis.

I don't want Ball, I don't want Ingram and I wouldn't be thrilled by Kuzma either. Not that the 6 pick is worth any of them except Lonzo.

Per usual we are way overvaluing our assets.

Ding, ding, Nail on head.

Look for the Suns too move Warren and possibly JJ, they have no cap space and Warren and JJ have large cap chunks.

Warren and JJ will not fetch near what people think, the bucks pick is worth nothing as well. The 7th pick and Warren or JJ is about their only decent trade chip

It looks like Rubio may be available. He is an unrestricted free agent as well.

You think Lonzo has more value than Kuzma or Ingram? I understand with Ingram's latest health issue that his value in a trade is probably at an all time low but Lonzo hasn't been capable of staying healthy either. Ingram's issue is more concerning because we saw Chris Bosh forced into an early retirement because of blood clots.

I'd rather gamble on Ingram than Lonzo though. Both would be gambles but if we didn't have a hole at PG then I doubt many would be interested in giving up anything of real value for Lonzo. We've suffered without a PG for the last 2 seasons which makes the idea of adding Lonzo more intriguing than it is. He hasn't played more than 50 games in his first 2 seasons so he may not even be able to fill the PG hole we have even if he were acquired since he hasn't proven he can play an entire NBA season, or even 2/3 of a season.

If we still had Igor then I think the odds of signing Rubio would be really high. I thought we'd have a 50/50 chance to get him from Utah but if Utah don't view him as a priority any longer I like our odds even without Igor.

Cost is important. I'm not sure what sort of contract he'll be looking for but if he's not looking for a deal higher than the MLE then I'd be interested in signing him. Like that tweet mentions, he'd be able start while a rookie like White gets comfortable in the league. He's a good distributor and defender also. I know his shooting is a little shaky but he's a better shooter than Lonzo is across the board. We wouldn't need to sub Rubio out because he can't make a FT.

If we could somehow end up adding Rubio and Randle while resigning Oubre and drafting White, that would be a solid offseason.

PG - Rubio, White, Melton
SG - Booker, Bridges
SF - Oubre, Jackson
PF - Randle, 2nd Round Pick
C - Ayton, Holmes, Spalding

I imagine we'll end up losing Tyler Johnson to clear cap space for everything. I didn't include Warren because I think he'll be dealt. We may end up dumping him to make room for everyone from a financial standpoint and while that's not ideal, I could live with that if we can keep Oubre and Holmes while we fill the gaps at PG and PF with Rubio & White plus Randle. Spalding signed to a 2 year minimum deal last season and if nothing else, he's cheap and Holmes insurance. I see no harm in keep him whether we retain Holmes or not. He had a couple of good showings at the end of the season. Maybe with more time he can be a surprise similar to Holmes.

Pretty sure you have it backwards. He’s saying the pick isn’t valuable enough to get Ingram or Kuzma but could get Lonzo.

I’d agree.

But of those guys I’d want Ingram least. He’s an inefficient iso scorer without good outside shooting ability, who doesn’t rebound, pass or defend and has a crap attitude as a cherry on top. He's a small forward version of Brandon Knight.

You're right, I read that wrong. Not sure how I misinterpreted that.

Of all of the young talent to pass through the Lakers since Kobe left I think the ones they've parted ways with have more value than who they still have. I know I'd prefer Russell, Randle, and Zubac to Ball, Ingram, and Kuzma. Kuzma is the only young Laker I'd give up anything of value for.

They also shipped out Larry Nance Jr and Jordan Clarkson. Clarkson ended up getting overpaid before he was traded so they needed to send Nance with him to clear his contract in order to sign Lebron.

I think they would have a really good team on the rise if they held onto all of their youngsters. They'd probably play Randle at Center, with Kuzma at PF, but they'd have a lineup that looked something like this...

PG - Russell, Lonzo
SG - Clarkson, Hart
SF - Kuzma, Ingram
PF - Randle, Nance
C - Zubac

Rubio is a one year wonder who can't shoot. No, thanks.

Correct. I was saying the opposite.

I really wouldn't want any of the 3 but assuming he's healthy I figure Ingram still carries the highest price tag of the 3. I don't know who they're trying to kid but it has to be the Lakers planting these absurd stories where the Lakers get rid of Lonzo and get full 2017 draft day value for him. And Kuzma, he's far too inconsistent for my tastes. Plays like a superstar for a couple of games and then goes all LA Odom for a week or two.

man... that starting five is really ugly and has pretty much ZERO spacing and shooting outside of Book.
