That Instagram "peace" post by TJ Watt has Pittsburgh Sports Talk Radio going ballistic. Word is he's fed up, hates the pursuit of Rodgers, and wants out. Word is also that the Stillers wouldn't get as much as they would otherwise expect. He may very well be traded soon.

I will hold my answer and rationale for a while, and ask the board this: What would you give up to trade for TJ Watt? Bear in mind, he wants a higher contract than Garrett.

4th would be ideal, but a 3rd...max. He's 30, wanting big money and has a bigger injury history than Garrett. Note: he doesn't always miss a lot of games with his injuries, but his play is definitely diminished when he plays through them.

if he's unhappy in pittsburgh he wouldn't set foot here
would love to hear JJ's honest opinion on the franchise

i am assuming he is unhappy because there is no viable QB option there and by the time they get one ready to challenge, he will be retired

final year of the contract at $21mm. he will be 31.

swap of firsts this year and a 2026 3rd. the contract will be the tough one -- two year extension for $70mm?

It would definitely say that the franchises expectations are very high for 2025/2026/2027.

This sounds reasonable. The swap of picks is worth a third....and going back 5 spots may actually make Monti feel better about drafting a guy he wants, you never know with that guy.... but make that trade, go olineman in the first, DT in the second, and then the third is wide open... can go WR, defense, or even an OG...
although, I still would want a young OLB in the mix...Watt is old as dirt by NFL standards..

thing is... big brother JJ still lives in Phoenix,...so that may be a reason for TJ to come to the desert

our future looks brighter than the Steelers.... plus, the Watt brothers like AZ... JJ is here full time... I've seen TJ walking around and at the grocery store. (I live about a par 4 away from JJ's arcadia home).

couple of 2nds might get it done. Would the addition of TJ make our dline the best in the NFL? maybe.

Disagree, JJ loved it here. He didn't retire because he hated the Cards he retired because of the heart scare and then he had a child. I follow him on Instagram he still talks fondly of his time here. So I can imagine he'd put in a good word for the Cards to TJ.

Well done. I think this is actually a decent comp deal that would make sense for Monti.

Garrett's contract is a lot of empty calories so I wouldn't look at the 40 mil per year #.

He's going to want to top the #, if nothing else, but I don't see that as a problem. I'd do a 3rd to get him. I did like @football karma's idea of a 1st swap and a 2026 3rd. That would be a good deal. Why not more? He has had injury problems, and he totally disappeared down the stretch last season, especially in the playoffs. He may be getting over the hill. The money is just the money; we have dry powder, so the money isn't a problem. I just wouldn't go big with the draft capital in trade.

Plus he is at the top of the hill. Be over it anytime now

Like TJ will ever want out of Pittsburgh to go to Arizona. He needs to just keep playing while he still can which means he'll go back to Steelers. Noone will trade as much as the Steelers would ask because of his age. He'll likely regress slightly which he did last season. Still good...once he's washed then the Cards will want him.
