Just hit the ESPN lotto simulator and came up with the Suns at #2. What would you do with #2 in this draft. Its a one player draft. Not that the others aren't good, its just that there is clearly a #1 and then the next 10 picks are so similar.

I think I would entertain trade down offers. ESPN has the Suns taking MKG. I think I would trade down and take Kendall Marshall, and maybe try to get another pick like PJ3, Royce White, etc.

Not sure. Its dead here. How about some wild speculation.

I REALLY like MKG, but I'd have a really hard time passing on Drummond. He is raw, but he has more potential. 6'11, 260lb guys with that kind of insane athleticism don't grow on trees. He needs to develop some low-post moves, and work on his shooting and rebounding, but there is no way in hell I would pick anyone else if he is available.

I'd pick Drummond and trade Gortat and try to snag another draft pick for a scorer or point guard.

I think I would pick MKG.

I don't have Drummond rated that high anymore. He looks like DeAndre Jordan right now with absolutely no touch from the freethrow line.

MKG is a great young player to build a new young team around because he has work ethic and can lead by example. He does not appear to be smartest either though. He definitely has some problems in interviews.

Good thing the +/- win column don't get filled up depending on how well he does debates.

I am trying to figure MKG out. Is he a Pippen type player? Lanky, athletic, great defender, great second fiddle to a superstar.

If you have the second pick and don't take Thomas Robinson you'd be crazy IMO.

Looking back I think both of those picks are defensible. Walk was a good player, arguably the best Center the Suns have had (though thats not saying much). The pick should've been Pippen over Gilliam, but its not like he went next at #3 and everyone knew what he was going to turn into. Would've been interesting to see Pippen on those late 80s/early 90s Suns teams.....ah well.

It would have also been interesting to see Pippen not on those Chicago championship teams. My guess if Jordan still would have found a way.

Lots of #2 picks have been busts. It's a tough spot to draft. Here are some recent ones: Hasheem Thabeet, Michael Beasley (jury possibly still out), Marvin Williams, Darko Milicic, Jay Williams, Stromile Swift.

Nice sig... but I think with the announced sale of the Hornets we can put any thought of the Suns getting the opportunity to waste 100 million on Eric Gordon to bed.

Absolutely. The same ownership who refuses to pay Drew Brees, who made that city relevant again, is going to "waste 100 million" on Eric Gordon, like you said. Great assumption!

Man you just keep coming up with these great comments, don't you? I have the same response to this one as I did to your previous shot at Eric Gordon...

This stuff happens, he will be a Saint, they are just haggling over the price. Hell, the Cardinals went through worse with Warner when he was the 1st player to ever take the team anywhere. He had to go flirt with the Niners in order to get a decent offer.

However, the Hornets have the right to match any offer Gordon gets, some team will have to grossly overpay to snatch him away, and even then New Orleans might match. Between the odds of them matching, the odds of him playing for another team who has made cap space: Indiana (his home), Brooklyn, Dallas and the improbibility of the Suns being willing to shell out that kind of money... I'd say there is about a 0.001% chance of him donning a Suns uniform next year.

And honestly, I am glad. Another extremely one dimensional player with a horrifying injury history. If this was the NFL and you could cut a guy when he cant stay on the field then a guy like Gordon might be worth the risk, but with the current cap structure and and guaranteed contracts it makes Gordon an extremely high risk signing. And what do you think Gordon turns the Suns into? A 35 win team... if he is healthy? The only positive I can possibly think of coming out of signing Gordon is it could work out so horribly that the Suns could pick in the top 3 for a few years in a row and maybe land some real franchise players.

So please, pick a new savior, and if you're going to target someone so unrealistic at least aim a little higher.

You're trying to explain logic to one of the least reasonable posters on the board. Best of luck.

I agree that signing him won't make us a contender or anything, but that along with moves can make this team not so brutal to watch like it has been the past 2 years.

This team has lacked a go to scorer for the past 2 years...the last time we had a go to scorer, we went to the WCFs....I don't see why that seems so impossible now...especially considering that we are a better defensive team now with Gortat and everything. And while there may be the excuse "Well Nash and Hill are old so they suck now" but honestly, is there THAT much of a difference in their games from the WCFs season and the last 2?

And we've already had this conversation about Gordon before, why don't you just agree to disagree? Its impossible to pick a right or wrong in this case until next season and we see how Gordon plays, whether that's with the Hornets, Suns or some other team.
