I would go get him with whatevr it takes. The cap hit wouldnt matter because Leinart doesnt count against it, so th eonly treason not to do it is if they want to be super cheap.

IR'ed players still count against the cap.

I wouldn't be against it, but it is fiscally impossible IIRC. Plus, who knows wth Jake has been doing this past offseason and season.

And I would not be surprised if the FO was looking into it, at least taking a cursory glance.

I'd still rather Ride or Die with Rattay.

The front office would be crazy not to at least "explore" the idea.

Here's a plan that would probably make the cap implications work:

Trade James to Tampa Bay for Plummer and their next year's #1 pick.

If Plummer sucks, then we will have a high draft pick and we select Darren McFadden and we still have a #1 for selecting a BPA.

If Plummer works out, then we package the two number ones and pick McFadden anyway.

If the Cards weren't contending for the division, I might agree with this.

Can we start a Jake Plummer subforum for all these moronic threads?

I guess I am moronic because right now I would welcome Jake back. He is better than the other options. Sure it is a pipe dream but what else have we got right now? "Wild Thing" Tim Rattay?

The "moronic" part is it is totally implausible.

Now, if we had gone into this season with the traditional 7 to 10 mil of cap space, it might not be. But, we didn't. We have almost no cap space left, and we'd have to absorb more than 5 mil in salary. Look at joeshmoes cap list. Who do you cut to take on Jake?

I can't even begin to think how out of shape Plummer is right now. I've just pictured him really letting it all go this offseason.

WRONG...!!!! He is playing Racket ball in a Professional league right now. So he is in better shape then most QB's in the NFL are right now. Also in the last three seasons he played in was on of the top 5 QB's in the NFL rankings. He reall would add another dimension to this team. He never had a cast of players around him like the Cardianls now have.

Just ask Mike S. of the Bronco's about how much he misses Jake right now...!!!!

This is probably his last year in Denver after screwing up by going with Cutler over Jake.

All this talk about bringing Plummer back ... if Tango only knew. :)

I wouldn't mind seeing Jake back. Is it logical? Probably not. Do we need help? Um, yeah.

This injury thing really sucks. Can't our team be healthy, even just for one year? Please?

Very interesting. I did not know he played professional racketball. You have to be in excellent shape to do that.

Go Cards/ America!

For the record...due to our present QB situation, I would gladly welcome Plummer back and let him battle for the starting job. I don't think this has any chance of happening, but damnit, he did lead us to the only playoff win in Arizona! I do think he is a capable QB, and his stupid mistakes are just barely worse than Warner's fumbles IMO.

Any chance a trade could be worked to have him come back to Arizona? He could probably start right after the bye week and salvage any playoff hopes the Cards will still have at that point. Cards are 3-3 and that is still very good for this young team but losing your #1 and #2 QB's in successive weeks is hard to watch.

I am still keeping the faith!

Agree.

If Plummer can still play, I would give him a strong look. He has to at least be as good as the other Cardinal quarterbacks. I don't see the Cardinals going anywhere with their current cast. So why not roll the dice.

Plummer might work, he is not as old as Testeverde and in shape from what little I have heard about him. But trading James to Tampa for him...uh, INSANE!

He doesn't want to play football. It's not like he's sitting at home waiting for a call from the Broncs to cancel the trade to Tampa or something - in several interviews, he's clearly stated that he doesn't want to play in the NFL any longer.

http://www.denverpost.com/ci_7220039

Any trade to Tampa for Jake would be a throw away trade IMHO - Jake doesn't want to play any longer, for any team, and that includes us, as well as 31 other teams as well.

Jake's gone - nothing is going to get him back, and we might as well forget about trying to.

This will now become my standard response to the "Bring Back Jake Threads" unless new information comes to light.
