Raja already played with Nash one year in Dallas. He was pretty much a non factor there too only averaging 3.1 ppg.

And...??

He effectively QUADRUPLED his statistical output when he made the move to Utah 2 years ago.

They don't have to match if Atlanta falls through. They are back to square one in regards to JJ. They will still retain the ability to match any offer, as well as make their offer to him. Maybe they let him shop around and match anything under $60 million.

Well the trade could fall through and ATL could still just roll the dice on the offer sheet hoping PHX won't match.

Unless the governor/owner guy that is holding things up with the Hawks has a problem with the contract instead of the trade.

My son and I went to the Utah game last year in Phoenix when they cleaned our clocks. It was funny, we talked about wishing he was on the Suns then. ;)

Plus my son got to stand by Karelinko. That guy is H-U-G-E!

I'm thinking he's having a heart attack when it came right down to giving JJ $70 million. I bet the other owners are trying to talk him into it, get rid of him, or trying to figure how they can back out without losing too much face with their fans. Why it has to take until the weekend is puzzling, unless they are buying the owner who's stalling out. Or trying to find another guy to line up if they drop JJ.

And in Dallas he only played 15.6 minutes a game, too, as the 5th offensive option on the floor. Okay... he might of moved up to the 4th option if Shawn Bradley or Popeye Jones was playing.

Either the contract or how much they were giving up in the trade could be the problem for him.

Some fans on the Hawks board seem to think the Suns are bluffing and the Hawks should forget the trade and just sign him to the offer sheet.

If forced like that I don't think the Suns would just let him walk.

Delay

Is this whole Atlanta delay going to cause the Suns to miss out on any free agents they may have wanted to sign?

Someone mentioned that in the Press Conference it may take until the weekend to get this thing done. So my other question is what are they doing that is going to take 2/3 more days? Either the guy in charge wants to spend the cash or not. Should that take 3 days to decide.

I am sure any player the Suns are going to be looking for will be through sign and trade or with the trade exception.

See my post four posts previous for speculation! ;) :D

I also noticed the three Suns managers didn't want to touch the Atlanta speculation any further than JC's "what I read on the web" thing! ;) You know GMs and Owners gossip about what's going on. They have an idea, but aren't going to touch it! :D

I have to admit that I haven't watched the press conference yet, but here's my take on the deal stalling. I think the Atlanta owner is hesitant to give up the draft picks with the rather limited protection. Frankly they probably saw how Isaiah Thomas worked over the Suns, and they are trying to do the same thing.

If they change the deal in favor of Atlanta I'll be very upset. This is BS negotiating. Of course the Phoenix Suns didn't help themselves by opening the negative JJ propaganda the second the trade was announced instead of waiting for it to actually go through.

That's my $.02 anyhow.

What do you mean by "negative JJ propaganda"?

Is it bashing JJ to tell the world that he wouldn't meet with them and told them he didn't want to play in Phoenix?

Is it some spin of the truth?

The fact that you're calling it "negative JJ propaganda" is propaganda itself! You really should watch the news conference--it might not change your mind, but you should watch it anyway before you post like this.

Yes the guys at the press conference were telling the truth about JJ not letting them talk to him. However, I think it was the tone they did it in that was the problem. They seemed very mad (which is understandable), I think they couldve handled it more professionally.

I didn't take it that it was negative about JJ. They basically said his first choice is Atlanta where he feels he will be happy. They never said he was selfish, etc. In fact, a couple times they said what a nice guy he is.

I will be pissed if they let Atlanta off the hook by weakening the deal. If Atlanta doesn't want to put their offer through, then we can work on JJ ourselves. Or sign and trade him to someone else. In fact, If I was Phoenix, I'd start telling Atlanta how horrible we are being taken in the deal. Maybe we need one of those picks to be unprotected! Start turning the knife.... ;)

I think they have a right to be a little upset, they are losing money with season ticket cancellations and their reputation is suffering by the media reports. If you don't think that makes JC angry, then you haven't spent a long time as a Suns fan.

Propaganda does not have to be untrue. In fact a lot of the time it's absolutely true. The propaganda we commonly think of is based in some truth but is exaggerated.

Definition:
ideas, facts, or allegations spread deliberately to further one's cause or to damage an opposing cause; also : a public action having such an effect

Everything we've heard from the Phoenix Suns side over the last 48-72 hours fits almost perfectly into that definition, especially that story about Amare and JJ.

I'm not saying they are lying. I'm saying that if Atlanta forces their hand, and the parameters of the deal are changed in Atlanta's favor, the Phoenix Suns should have waited to talk about it. Right now Atlanta is saying to themselves, "there's no way they're taking him back now. We've got them by the balls."

Wow! That press conference was very interesting. I've been in support of the ownership in this situation, and now I'm convinced it was an accurate opinion.

These guys sounded extremely frustrated and disappointed. They explained their issues, and pointed out they feel they've done everything possible to try to work this out. If anyone thinks this was somehow disrespectful of JJ should look more at the real emotions these men have about this issue.

I don't trust Sarver yet for his "word" but if Jerry C. is pissed that he didn't even give us a chance then I don't think JJ ever planed on coming back to Phoenix.

Looks like the conf. is recored and back on suns.com Video: Watch the entire Raja Bell press conference
I missed the first part about JJ I am going to watch it now.

Thanks for posting the link :notworthy About 15 minutes through it.

But damn, JC has aged so much lately. Last time I saw him he had 1/2 the wrinkles. But on the JJ situation, boy were JC, Sarver and BC pissed.

About Raja. He seems like a good kid. Reminds me of a brighter JJ. Anyone know what his role would be? I'd like to see him starting at the SG position.

On a brighter note, the personalities of both our acquisitions, Kurt Thomas and Raja Bell, seem light years better than Joe Johnson's... :D

My impression of both JC and BC is that they are classy guys. They don't trash anyone. If I remember correctly they both made amends with Charles Barkley and Antonio McDyess. The things that were supposedly stated about both of these guys was generated by the press. It looks like JJ is going down that same path and if the deal blows up and he has to remain in Phoenix I am sure that the Colangelos will not have any ill will against him.

I just wish JJ would open his eyes, if Atlanta management is having a problem with his offer, then that is probably a good indicator of other problems down the road.

I was thinking the same thing about JC.

Pissed or just annoyed with idiotic questions from idiotic reporters (I mean distorters).

Joe I agree with your assertion, I think the Suns were more interested in protecting their season ticket base which they hiked prices on more than their actual personel dealings.

I am sure any minuet now we will start hearing how awesome Boris is at handling balls.
