we are back to the days of no respect. I can’t find one pundit that even wants to talk about us. Nfl network spend several minutes on every game this weekend and our game gets 15 seconds, no exaggeration. It started at the end of 2016. Arians had no interest in a “ retool” and the organization appeased him. It put us two maybe three years behind. We should have moved up and drafted Watson instead of Reddick. If we did nothing else we would have headed into this season with a qb that would have had 8 or 9 games under his belt. Imagine what we could have done with the 25 million it cost us to sign Bradford and Glennon? What could we have done with our #1 pick this year? Instead Keim and Bidwill caved to Arians and went for the gold “ one more time”. I give Keim and Bidwill a lot of credit for the competitiveness of this team and we all enjoyed our run. But they dropped the ball and us fans will now be relegated to an after thought. At least until Rosen is named the starter. Unfortunately when that time comes his supporting cast will leave a lot to be desired. I can’t even say “ wait till next year”. I will still watch and I will still love. I just don’t like irrelevance.
The Cardinals have only barely ever been in the national spotlight. They're a perennial loser of a team, even if recent years (I'm talking the past decade) have been brighter than usual. It's being worked on, and they're getting better, but we've really only had two seasons to be hyped about on the national level, and one was "the worst playoff team in history."
Sorry, that sucks. But it's reality. And I think this is a first class organization that is just on the brink of really being popular. We have some awesome classy stars, have had recent competitive teams, and just
maybe we might have a franchise QB on hand. If Rosen's who I think he is, and did before the whole draft process, he's going to be one of the faces of league, in a Peyton/Rodgers sense.
But it's absolutely ridiculous to play revisionist history, OR claim that we "should have moved up for Watson." The Texans gave up
a first round pick for Watson, which turned into a
top five pick for the Browns. What should we have packaged to the Browns to make them ignore a first round pick? Would you have given up this year's first rounder to move up one spot? The point is, we never really had the chips in the game. The Browns weren't gonna take a 3rd rounder and 5th rounder (thanks Oakland) over a 1.
That's not to mention that the guy is a 22 year old sitting on two torn knees, who has only won three games in his career. Let's have this conversation four years from now when Houston's looking to replace a guy whose body can't keep up with his talent.
