When do you stop wearing a player's jersey?

And what's the "oldest" Cards jersey you currently have in your closet?

I ask because I go to games and sometimes see someone wearing a Plummer jersey. And, tonight, I went to the Big Red Rage and saw someone wearing a Simeon Rice jersey, which I, personally, found completely unacceptable. (Sorry, if it's someone from this board.)

I understand that there are all-star players and players who are held close to your heart. For instance, I wouldn't give anyone a problem for wearing a retro jersey, like a Walter Payton, or an Elway, even. But I think some jerseys gotta just stop being worn. Simeon? C'mon. He hasn't played for the Cards in years. If you're a real fan, ante up and get a new jersey .. or a t-shirt .. or something.

For me, once you're off the team, you're off my back. Of course, there are exceptions. I still have my Aeneas Williams jersey, though I don't wear it. And, of course, there is Pat Tillman's jersey (which I will wear on Thanksgiving Day at *choke* Texas stadium).

So, please share.

I am a 22yr old father of two with a girlfriend who has an addiction to the mall living in one of the top ten most expensive living areas in the country. I cut half of my hand off last year and haven't worked since. Workman's comp sucks and and all of my money goes torward our kids/house/cars/bills. I love my team more than any fan of any team I have ever met. The last jersey I got was a Plummer, but I dont wear it anymore cause its too damn small. If it did fit though I wouldn't hesitate to rock it out. Anyone who had the nerve to say anything to me about it would find out quick how good a guy with one hand can still throw down. To my credit though, I have made it a point to gear my kids up in Leinart and Boldin.

For the record though, if my jersey said Rice on the back I would have burned it years ago.

I still rock my Plummer jersey....

I also have a Larry Centers Home White I wear sometimes.

But I mostly wear Boldin or Wilson now. In the east, I may not look like a hardcore fan if I wear a Leinart Jersey so I never got one.

Wearing Boldin white on Sunday.

LOL! When I was in AZ for my first Cards game in AZ in 1999, I had planned to buy three jerseys (cause I couldn't find ANY Cards jerseys in NJ). They were Plummer, Aeneas and Simeon.

After watching the game though, I decided against Simeon in favor of Tillman. I didn't see a lot of Cards games back then (had to go to the bar to watch) and I hadn't seen Tillman play that much ... til that day. He impressed me so much that I chose his jersey over Simeon's.

One of the best decisions I've ever made. :)

I'll give you Larry Centers.

Your excuse for not wearing the Leinart jersey is, well, eh. Why do you give a crap what the idiot Egales and Steelers fans think of you anyway? (Sorry, am feeling a little ornry tonight.)

I think what he was trying to say is that Leinart jerseys have become a bi too trendy. I see tons of people with them and I know most aren't Cards fans or are newbies that just think they are getting an early spot on the bandwagon cause we will be good now with Matt at the helm.

Wow. That surprises me.

Guess I can understand your position then, especially being on the East Coast. My apologies.

I have a chocolate stain on the front of my Leinart jersey. Not sure how it got there.

Do I clean it? Or does a stain add character to a jersey?

I don't wear player Jerseys for the reason 1) I don't think anyone is so good I have to wear their name--kinda makes me think of Halloween, dressing up 2) players don't stick around with a team long enough. Thats just me and I realize I am in the vast minority there. Plus its cheaper to stock up on the tshirts, jackets, hats etc.

I do own a couple of jerseys of my favorite players, I try to frame them and display them.

i agree jersey girl, once your off the team, i wont wear it, cept for tillman, and anyone who retires with the team, so in the year 2089 when boldin finally hangs em up, he will still be wearable.

I have a Plummer jersey.

When Jake moved on, I put duct tape over the name and wrote "Blake" on it.

Later, I put on more duct tape and wrote "McCown".

Soon, I needed more duct tape for "King".

Not much later I needed to find the duct tape again in order to add "Navarre".

The next day I tore off two layers of duct tape to uncover "McCown", but I ruined one of our couches when the sticky stuff from the duct tape went all over it. So I covered the duct tape with clear packing tape.

But then, it was back to the garage for more duct tape and I added "Warner".

By this time, I had so much duct tape on my back, I could have written "Hunchback" on it.

Then, thankfully, the Cards changed uniforms, so I got a new jersey and I put my own damn name on the back.

My oldest is a Plummer who I still have a lot of respect for. It was in the paper yesterday that he will be inducted into the ASU HOF. He gave me one of the most exciting years as a Card fan and one of the best as a Sun Devil with their first appearance in the Rose Bowl.

I now have a Leinart and Edge jersey. I really respect Edge for being willing to leave a SB contender to come to the Cards. I think his attitude will be a big reason for the Cards turn around.

Just noticed I have an autographed Garrison Hearst jersey. I wish he had been able to stay healthy.

It depends on how they leave. My oldest is a Swann, which I've only worn once since he left the team.

I won't wear my Plummer jerseys ever again, but I'll keep them in the back of my closet forever, mainly because he is an important part of the legacy of the Arizona Cardinals.

I didn't get my Tillman jersey until after he passed, so I feel comfortable wearing it anytime.

I can't bring myself to wear a Leinart jersey, mainly because he is still too much of a pretty boy. If he delivers in the play-offs, I might change my mind.

I have a retro Boldin and a new Fitz, but I pretty much only wear the Fitz.

I was tempted to get an authentic made with Capital Card on the back, but I think it's a bit too geeky to do. I definately want an authentic, but I just can't decide on who - Boldin seems the logical choice.

Hey! Same stuff here. I had the Swann when I was in high school (Who? The other students at my 500 total kid school in Iowa would ask. I had to tell the story a million times), but it no longer fits. I've been trying to shrink it, my wife wants another jersey to go along with her Shipp.

Also have the Plummer, easy enough to find. I've got a Boston too, but he's been hiding.

I have the modern Boldin and one of the new hybrid authentic/replica Fitzgerald. Good stuff.

I'd love to get a personalized "superspck" jersey but I always have to explain to people that it's not a ethnic (read: racism) thing. Social progress never has felt so far away.

I just bought a Boldin to replace the Vanden Bosch I have been wearing for years. I never minded wearing it since he is a solid player and has no ill will towards the team. Just a fluke the way he left.

I am looking for a Lutui jersey and want to customize a Hollywood.

I still have a junior size LeShon Johnson.:D
A XXL Simeon Rice that a former Cards Corner poster gave me so I would trade him 3 players in our fantasy league.
The free Plummer jersey that we got as season ticket holders.

My kids have an Edge and a Leinart jersey.

Me, I wear a #14 Duckjake jersey. Guys been with the team a long time.

Who else knows it's chocolate (other than all of this board now)? Does it look like it could be blood?

I can't help it. These things cost upwards of $200 or more (I hate replicas: I insist on authentic), and every time I buy a jersey, the player leaves the next year. My collection includes Neil Lomax, Chuck Cecil, Seth Joyner, Eric Swann, Simeon Rice, Pat Tillman, Jake Plummer, Adrian Murrell, Emmitt Smith, Aeneas Williams, Rob Moore, Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald.

I try to be a little different from others when I buy these things, so I seldom buy them in their first year (note that I have not yet purchased Leinart). The problem is that the player, in all but three cases (Smith, Boldin, Fitzgerald) was gone the next year. I still wear all of them. Their legacy is that they played for the Cardinals regardless of how their career progressed before or after their appearance in Arizona. I see it as wearing history.

Now, when I go to a game, only current players are in the rotation.
