When the Cardinals play the Rams, I think I'll bet the "over".

That game is going to be about 63-21.

I just got back from Detroit, and I hate to re-hash anything that has already been covered in other threads or interrupt the self-delusion that is probably taking place ("It wasn't so bad! We'll get better!") but as much as the offense was 1000 times better than it has been in a decade, I think the DL, special teams and pass coverage have actually regressed.

Kick coverage was awful, the return game was awful, Harrington got pressured exactly ONE time, the CBs couldn't cover anyone, and Clement had 5 false starts.

Detroit had two TD drives that took less than 3 plays. They passed at will.

And the worst part is, no matter how much you try to tell yourself otherwise now that we've lost, Detroit stinks. Their defense is terrible. Their running game is a joke. Their receivers, except for Rogers, are worse than ours.

If we couldn't beat them, the only team on our schedule I think we can beat are the Bengals or Bears.

It's gonna be a long season, guys. Tell yourself it's going to get better all you want, but slop like what we saw today doesn't get fixed in a week. When we play some good teams, it's gonna be brutal.

This game was Ugly. Terrible special teams play, mental errors and poor game management put us in a hole and made Detroit look better than they are. Although I believe that Detroit has a quality offensive line and Harrington showed that he can play in this league.

However I believe that other than the Cardinal pash rush the other stuff can be fixed. This whole "Sky is falling" stuff cracks me up.

I've said all along that this team would win 6 games and I still stand by that.

I had Detroit game as one of those 5 or 6 games chalked up as a W. Very few thought we could lose to Detroit. Hell, even the ESPN experts were split on this one. This was a big let down.

I see no way in which our DL and DBs are going to get better in the next 6 days.

I don't think we can stop anyone.

I never thought this game was a lock. But, I did think we could win any of the first three games. Yes, even Green Bay. If we can actually win two straight at home, we'll be back to where we need to be.

But, like Ed said, that stuff today won't cut it. We have to win the turnover battle, and we saw precious few plays made by our D today.

I don't think the Rams will be scoring 63 points against anyone this season.

I agree. Loosing Starks was a back breaker for or defensive backfield. Or only hope on the D-Line is that Pace and Bryant develope into pass rushers. We will not make the playoffs because of this.

However I do believe that if we eliminate all of the mental mistakes the Cardinals win this game. That is what pisses me off. This team looked so unprepared and out of sync compared to their preseason performance. Where did all of these penalties and mental errors come from all of a sudden. It's up to the Coaches to fix this.

I still contend that the battling the elements rattled the Cardinals... They didn't completely have their entire starting offensive unit together during the exhibition season and not accustomed to playing in front of such an enthusiastic crowd that they encountered at Ford Field......

Also, a lot are still under-estimating the Lions, overlooking that "Mooch" has already made a difference in their over-all performance and his discipline comes a long way in deciding the outcome of games.....

That place was as silent as a mausoleum until Drummond ran the punt back.

The Lions and their fans had no energy at all after Boldin's 70 yard TD but then the punt return and Boldin's ridiculous fumble gave them all they needed.

I could have sworn it sounded extremely loud during the play in which Emmit called their last TO and also the final moments of the 2nd half, which somewhat came back to haunt them in the end...

Not that it's an excuse but how loud was the stadium? Clock management and Clement killed us. What I wouldn't have given to have just one of those first half time outs at the end! Geez!

I have to re-inforce what ed said. Boldin's 70 yarder took the heart out of the Lions and the crowd. The punt return and muff broke our backs and let then back in the game. The Lions are dreadful. I mean look at the stats. I can't forsee what will re-make our DL or CB's in a weeks time. Without pressure Harrington had all day. I mean for crying out loud they completed a 25 yard TD to a lumbering journeyman FB who ran like a 350 lb lineman. We are in bad shape for the rest of the season and we have to accept things as they are. A few emotional victories along the way won't mean a thing. Neither of our #1's did a thing to support their selections.

What are we supposed to tell ourselves? We suck! Let's just complain and bitch and moan until the season is over! Hey maybe you should cheer for a winner so you don't have to watch brutal games! No one here is in a position to enact change within the Cards so the best we can hope for is that we put it all together and win 6 or 7 games. I dont see the point of everyone saying we suck. We know this, some of us just choose to focus on the bright spots from the game rather then whine about the negatives over which we have no control.

Maybe some of you who are saying we suck can enlighten me on what you hope to accomplish by stating the obvious. Don't get me wrong I enjoy reading this board, but when its 90% "we suck" I just don't see what kind of agenda the posters have. This all reminds me of NEM and him trying to constantly "enlighten" us by telling us how it really was.

Trouble is brighteyes, the issue isn't the Rams, it's the Cardinals. Did you think the Lions were a good team before yesterday?

Come on man. Tell me you didn't think they had a chance heading into the 3rd quarter. Take away a few mental errors and this is a different game. I think you are still getting over the shock of losing this game. I'm not sure if you actually believed this team would make the playoffs this year. Maybe you overrated them just a tad and are pissed at yourself or something.

I think you bought into the Hype way to much. We all knew going into this season that this team would struggle to get 6 or 7 wins. However a good preseason blinded some of you into thinking that this team was playoff bound.

Don't get me wrong, I think this team is improved from last year but I still feel it lacks playmakers on the defense to make them a playoff team. Losing Starks and KVB was a back breaker for a defense that was already thin.

Hey Mad, you can review every post I ever made and you'll never find one where I said I thought they'd make the play-offs. I was hoping for 8-8 but after 44 years of following these guys it looks to me like it has the makings of just another awful season. Unless they bring in new players I don't see how they're going to fix things with what they have on hand.

I just think you are putting to much into the first game. Yes it was an ugly loss. However it's not all doom and gloom like you make it out to be. I believe that this team will get better.

Sorry but Pace played very well in this game! Just becaus ehe didnt get a sack doesnt tell the whole story. He came in awas in Harringtons face a couple of times and two time I am certain he stuffed running playes behind the LOS. Pretty good day for a rookie IMO!

He needs better D-lineman around him but he was just as impressive yesterday as he has been all pre-seaon.

As far as Johnson you are 100% correct he droppeda sure TD! Inexcusable!

Backus handled him one-on-one yesterday. Not what you want from your RDE. Still, Pace probably was the best lineman we had in the Detroit game. He just needs to learn and pick up some new moves if the guy he is going against is handling him.

I predicted a 6 win season so I guess I'm not to optomistic either. I just want to see progress and a team that is competitive. Something that shows me they are headed in the right direction. What I don't want to see is a team that plays as sloppy and unprepared as the one that showed up for the Lions game.

I agree he was handled on many plays but backus missed the boat on the two run plays I saw and on the two where he was in Harringtons face. A different QB and those might have been sacks. Pace will be handled by some of the tackles I suspect but his shear athleticism will come out and he will make plays as well.

Your right I think he is our best DL right now!
