Bears - They have Grossman and Orton, I doubt they go after Josh and I doubt Josh wants to be thrown into that much competition. Grossman's inability to stay healthy would be the only reason the Bears would go after Josh.

Packers - Unless Rodgers has shown zero potential I doubt they go after Josh. Now if Favre retires that could change things but as Russ stated why would Josh put that much pressure on himself.

Bucs - Simms is a RFA and isn't going anywhere, Gruden really seems to like him and Josh would again be second string.

Steelers - Ben is the man and is tough. Josh knows he won't see much if any playing time.

Browns - They already had a McCown, I doubt they hitch their wagon to that kind of horse again.

Eagles - may like to have him but again why would he go to a team to ride the bench.

Saints - They are in position to draft a QBOF so Josh has to realize he has 1 or 2 years before he gets replaced. Plus why go to a team in that much turmoil.

Lions - Millen has proven to be a wild card with his thought process and Josh shows more moxy then Harrington at this point.

Dolphins - Saban has done a masterful job with this team and they are a QOF away from truly contending for a playoff spot. Their starter now (can't think of his name) is not the long term answer. They can't give up draft picks to acquire a top QB prospect so Josh or Brooks may be their best options.

Jets- Another good option but as someone stated he may not due well in with that kind of media attention. They are better that a 4 win team but injuries at the QB position was freaky bad luck. Chad P. may not be able to come back from his injury and has been injured a lot in past couple of years. Bollinger made strides towards the end of the season but he is still a work in progress.

If Josh looks at all of these teams and scenarios then he should still really be thinking about re-signing with the Cards. He and Warner have a great working relationship and if Warner makes it through the entire season healthy then it will be the first time in the past 4 years or so.

Bottom line, if the Dolphins want Josh then he should sign with them.

I would like to see the Cards re-sign him, but my guess is with the Packers. Where ever he goes he will do a good job, wait and see.

Tennessee

Tennesse will draft a QB and stick with the QB they have until their new one is ready. It could be Leinhart or either of the other two big QB's available.

Chicago does not have a legitimate starter at this point and Josh could elevate their passing game...with a running game and a decent line he will not have to run for his life on every play and if his competition is Grossman and Orton.. he will be the the starter. Muhammed, Berrian and Gage would love to have him there...

Orton had some wins but looked horrible and had a terrible QB rating. Grossman is still a big questionmark having played in only 7 games. The Bears definitely need a QB and they could easily go after McCown or Warner. Warner will be offered some major $ this year due to a lack of good FA QB's. He is considered by many to be the best of the FA QB lot. I am for getting it on and signing him else we will be in a hole looking up.

I could see Miami taking a run at McCown, however unless Jay Cutler has an exceptional combine, he should be around when Miami picks. If this is the case, I see Nick Saban selecting him (unless someone takes a massive tumble). Either way, I see Miami filling their QBOF hole through the draft.

I think the best scenario for McCown, where he would get the opportunity to start would be the Lions. Joey Harrington has been a bust while Jeff Garcia has seen better days. With the new coaching regime taking over and Matt Millen's neck firmly on the chopping block, they need to do something about the QB position. I see them either trading for Matt Schaub or going after the best young QB available (McCown).

The best place for McCown is right here with the Cardinals. He may realize that, but too bad Green doesn't think the same.

Say what you will about McCown... he HAS shown progress in his development each year, slow though it may be, and I expect that will continue. It was well known when McCown was drafted that he was a very athletic, very raw project.

Sign Warner for two years, sign McCown for four or five. Sure other teams will be willing to sign McCown for more money on a per year basis, but what team is going to be willing to give him a long term contract? Two more years working with Warner and the Cardinals and McCown will be ready to be a full-time #1 QB.

It makes too much sense to ever happen...

Josh has already proven that he can maintain KW's passing numbers without a line and a running game...if we add those 2 elements, along with the fact that as KW's BACKUP he will get more reps than KW over the course of the season due to injuries...we will have a starter in the making...he is young, he tough, he is strong and Q and Fitz believe in him...DG needs to recognize what he has before he defaults to Navarre (the STATUE)

I echo this. Josh was boy when he came here (like Thomas Jones). In the next couple of years, he will reach maturity (no more crying on the sideline).

I will would REALLY hate seeing him be The Man for a team like, oh, Dallas for instance knowing all along we paid the price of his raising.

As long as it's somewhere else!

The Tuna would kill him. No way would Parcells even look twice at McCown.

Miami or Detroit are the only possible places he could compete for a starting job IMO.

The Jets have too much committted to Pennington to pay McCown or any other QB big FA bucks. Ditto Minnesota with Culpepper.

Josh is not going to pull down big, big bucks I don't think. If he does, more power to him and condolences to the team that is stupid enough to do so.

I hope the Cards resign Warner and get a QB in the draft to groom. Let Navarre/Davey duke it out for #2 and let the young (God, could we please get Vince? Please....) kid hold a clipboard.

Saints, Jets, Dolphins, or Dallas.
Josh is tougher than many think he is mentally.
K-9, I'm beginning to worry about you. Seriously.

I don't agree on the tuna hit. He's not as bad as hishistory suggests. Ask Bledsoe. He'd have a good O line, good RB's. Good receivers, not as good as ours of course. And he'd have mentoring in one system.
There'd be some rough spots, but it might be the match that makes it all click for him.

Hard question to answer because there's a big difference between signing Josh as a backup and signing him to compete for the starting job. If a team is looking for someone specifically for the #2 or #3 role, almost any team could be interested.

Based on what? It takes a very special kind of player to play in the New York media crucible. There's no way that Josh McCown could do it. He melted under the "big lights" in Arizona any time that there was an important game. Josh McCown is a great quarterback to have once your season is over, but when you're playing for something, he goes into his shell.

There's no way that you should be reducing the playbook for a four-year veteran who's started over a season, but that's exactly what the Cardinals had to do every time McCown became the starter. That doesn't speak well of his mental acuity. That he couldn't stand the heat of being a QB at Southern Methodist and had to drop a level doesn't speak much for his mental toughness. What has he ever shown to make anyone but his more diligent homers think otherwise?

Been reading this board for years and have finally decided to post. Its very obvious that K9 does not like McCown, then again thank god its not his job to make those decisions. We in my opinion would be better off to resign McCown and Warner. Worry about the oline and maybe a NT and possible a power RB. QB is not the position of need period our QB's even with our pathetic oline put up the best passing offense. WIth a solid running game we might actually be able to score TD's and not a bunch of field goals. McCown has shown improvement under Warner and if he is willing to keep learning from him we may have a QBOF he has all the tools and seems to be picking up the cerebral part from Warner. The receivers and team seem to really beleive in him too thats not gonna be the case if we bring in some rookie. Not to mention rookie won't be ready for couple of years who goes in when warner gets hurt? Navarre GOD I hope not! Anyways nice to be here and look forward to posting more often.
