Why has he not played this season? The dude can hit the 3 on a regular basis. Is coach D not going to use his whole bench.. AGAIN????

You want Coach D to use his 14th and 15th man off the bench?

He can't keep up with the pace the Suns want to run and they have better people in front of him. I'd much rather have Bell or Barbosa on the floor. I saw Pike play in preseason and he really didn't impress me at all. He was an average defender, just stood around the 3pt line on offense, he really didn't bring anything to the table that the guys in front of him didn't do better. Also, with jalen Rose getting signed, Pike is probably never going to get playing time. Pike is insurance against injury and veteran leadership, oh and he was cheap.

Pike is LHAO at how idiotic the new GM was by signing him to a 2 year guaranteed deal.

But then again, Polish Rifle is helping a lot more than those draft picks right now.

2 year minimum partially subsidized deal. Big whoop.

He's on the end of the bench, to be used in specialty situations or in case of catastrophic injury. Just where he should be.

Good grief. You are always going to have to sign vet min players, anyway.

I think the better question is where is Jumaine Jones? I didn't expect Pike to play, from what I heard preseason he was signed so that later he can move into the front office. But I actually expected Jumaine Jones to get spot minutes here and there. For instance the other day in the Portland blow out, D'Antoni put Burke in at the end of the game, but I never saw JuJones (though I was at a bar and only half paying attention). Is Pat Burke really higher on the depth chart than JuJones? PAT BURKE? I mean, he may be the worst NBA player I've ever seen (or at least he has the worst shot selection).

I think Jones ankle isn't fully healed yet from what I've heard. I think that probably has a big amount to do with why he isn't seeing the court right now.

I'd be tempted to put him in a game. In warmups his shooting is pretty impressive.

Hoover,

Jumaine Jones tore a ligament in his right ankle during preseason.

If you remember the game where he was given the chance to play, he looked horrible and uncomfortable on that ankle.

I didn't get to see that game, I was out of town. I knew he had hurt his ankle, but it seems like its been forever since then and I guess I just assumed it was healed by now.

Pike was in street clothes tonight. I looked for him specifically because of this thread.

Pike is right where he should be the whole season. I agree with the rest of you who also want to see Jumaine Jones. It said nothing about his ankle in injury reports but some games you do see him in street clothes..

He's got a point LJ.

And to answer the question, "Where's Pike?"... At the bank cashing checks..

It could be that Pike is great in practice, helping to push shooters like James Jones and Raja Bell. His veteran insights probably helps out a lot.

I rather see Pat Burke in street clothes all season. A harsh analysis, but IMO, true. I can cannot see Burke helping the Suns win games but I certainly can see him helping the Suns lose games.

If Jumaine is dressing out, I would think he might be available to play. I haven't heard much about him lately on the medical front.

It seems to me that I've seen Sean Marks in street clothes a few games as well. Are end of the bench guys taking turns in street clothes because the Suns are over the roster limit (perhaps because of J. Rose)? I'm not sure how that all works

Inactive vs. Active List Rules Posted

Understanding how rosters are set under the new CBA
Under the new Collective Bargaining Agreement, each team is required to carry 12 players on its active list and at least one player on its inactive list. Teams may have a maximum of three players on its inactive list, which includes any players sent to the NBA Development League.
In the past, a team maintained a 12-player roster, with additional players being put on the injured list, which forced the player to sit a minimum of five games before again being eligible to play. Now, the active and inactive list can be set on a game-by-game basis, one hour before tip-off, with no length of stay required for either list.
If, for example, a star player is injured and forced to sit out one or two games, the coach can now place him on the inactive list and "activate" another player, giving the team a full 12 players available to play. In previous seasons, that player would have had to stay on the injured list five games, so instead the team would frequently just sit the player and make do with the other 11 available players.

The Suns have 14 players so there will be two of them in suits each game.
