Where will Jimmy Butler end up? 2025 edition

The Suns would simply add another bad contract to their collection. A player can't be traded unless there is a trade partner.

Swapping Beal for Butler should improve things but the people talking about championship should wake up and look at the standings. The Suns stink! Butler won't change that.

I have given this some thought the past couple days. Even though the optimistic side of me says that if we can flip Nurk for a legit FC player and pull off this Butler trade we have a shot? The idea of being locked into Durant/Butler for $100 million and both over 35?!? You can't be saddled with multiple 35+ guys for 100 million or more. If there was another player out there that was much younger with the same talent level and available? I would be much more open to it.

Blow it up and yes that includes Booker. Stock up on assets and start again. Besides, Ishbia has proven he will go after whatever free agents are out there and if we restock on assets, I could see him pulling off major trades to reload faster.

This collection of players is terrible.

tyus would be an added piece at best and not a very strong one considering his contract length - morris is on his last year

royce is signed thru 2028 - makes $10 million a year but he's a b-list 3 and D at best

We.can't aggregate salaries so a pile of players for Butler wouldn't work. Plus we'd have even more holes to fill so it doesn't make sense.

Beal and Lillard would be fine. Beal lead the league in scoring next to Westbrook and Lillard played well next to CJ McCollum. Lillard is a PG, Booker isn't. Not the same thing at all. Beal is a natural SG.

We were also the only team willing to meet the Nets insane trade demands... and the only team willing to take Beal off the Wizards...

I agree regarding Brooklyn but Milwaukee was willing to take Beal. Beal killed that deal because he didn't want to go to a team that would treat Middleton like that 2-3 years removed from a championship. He may have come around if that was the only destination but then the Suns got involved by way of Booker and KD contacting Beal directly.

Miami can ask for anything they want - but the fact is we can not trade more than 1 player being over the second apron.

If the Suns are this F'ng stupid they have to trade Grayson for a first and some trash contract player in a separate deal. Then include the 2nd pick.

If they do that, I am going to have to take a hiatus, I refuse to watch a team that has been that thoroughly F'D.

That's because Lillard has always been a scoring PG while Booker was forced to play PG. Look at what CJ McCollum did next to Lillard. Dame can play next to a scoring SG like Beal. Booker and Beal are both at their best as secondary ball handlers being set up to score. They're similar players. Lillard is a creator who is capable and willing to get points himself if nothing else materializes. Lillard was my favorite non Sun up until 2021 or so. I watched a lot of him and he's not like Beal or Booker.

The Heat has been real back and forth on Herro also. One week he's in trade rumors and then he's a piece of their core. They have no interest in Beal though so it's really not work diving deeper.

Why? Middleton has approximately $90 less owed to him than Beal. He only is on the books for $31 million a year and has a player option for $34 million next year. Plus he'd take Butler's spot at SF. Beal pushes Herro back the bench or out of position like he did Booker. Middleton makes more sense than Beal from a fit and financial perspective.

Ishbia has to ask himself why he’s the only owner willing to give Jimmy Butler a $100m+ extension. I can’t imagine watching this current uninspiring iteration for another 2.5 years.

Sidery is reporting that Butler has basically shut down all other teams. It's Phoenix or bust for him. According to reports his agent has told other teams he is not willing to sign an extension anywhere but Phoenix.

The Warriors are not interested in trading for Jimmy Butler, per @sam_amick.
Golden State not only is unwilling to sign Butler to the max extension he desires, but also they had no interest in trading Andrew Wiggins and Jonathan Kuminga.

KD to the Rockets for two of our picks back (or more if they can get them)

Booker to GS for Wiggins, and 3 or four future first round picks starting in 2028 or 2029.

Beal talent wise is about the same or better than Middleton, Lavine, McColum, etc. with a bit higher salary. He just needs to end up in the right situation, not like with the Suns.
But, if we could get Nurk for Richards + Williams/Green deal with Hornets, we might end up playing throught the season without more moves
