The Suns are the only team Jimmy Butler is willing to sign a long-term extension with, per @ShamsCharania.Butler will say no to every destination except Phoenix as they tirelessly work to acquire the Heat’s star wing in a four or five-team deal this week.

The Heat remain uninterested in swapping Jimmy Butler for Bradley Beal.Even if Miami doesn’t have another trade for Butler they like, under no circumstances do they want to take on Beal’s contract. For Phoenix to pull this off, likely multiple facilitators need to be involved.

Jimmy has to be feeling great these days - seen as a malcontent, not playing at all, watching other superstars getting traded daily.

But then recently the Knicks showed how you do it in the opposite direction signing a relatively young Brunson what their cap space and building around him. Suffice it to say, there are multiple ways to build a contender.
They had a couple of advantages very few teams are likely to duplicate - 1 they had his father on staff. 2 They are New York a huge media market 3 They had very little competition for Brunson because at the time nobody thought he was that good.

Just because a fluke happens, does not mean it is easily repeatable.

The Heat probably feel they would rather have Butler than Beal, because of the size of Beal's contract.

If Butler doesn't play, they don't have to pay him.
Multiple reports now say that teams have been calling for both Durant and Booker (including GS) and the Suns said no. It doesn't appear anybody is calling about Beal which says something.

His only leverage is continuing to be a cancer and he’s burned bridges at every stop.

If he becomes a Sun, when that bridges comes to cross, it will be time to just let him go along with KD.

If the Suns keep their core together, they may be better off strengthening the rest of their roster than using their draft picks trying to trade Beal.

Do you really want this guy on your team? There’s a reason his trade demands aren’t getting much traction.

I think the Suns have already laid their cards on the table as has Jimmy Butler. Now it's up to the Heat.

It will likely take another team or two to make it happen, though, if it happens.

I get that logic. The Suns might be thinking the window is open another couple years after this one so that could make some sense. However, IMO the Suns are in win now mode and need proven commodities now. I think the window is shut after this season. I really do.

I'm not so sure whether the Suns need a different star. They have three, at least on paper.

If they could fix the front court, that might be enough to make them a contender. How far that goes is anyone's guess.

Oh I agree but I am not sure an untested rookie fits that bill. IMO, if the window is this year or even next, they don't have time to develop someone via the next draft. Plus, if Dunn and Oso continue to develop the rest of this year and next? No draft picks you get next year are going to see the court.

lol. We keep bringing up examples. What’s obvious is that your definitive statement was wrong.

There are multiple factors in every free agent signing. So if you’re trying to use those to argue these never happen, and you have to keep doing it, you’re just wrong.

Are we really still calling Beal a “star?” He’s got the contract of a star, but he’s no star anymore.

Seem like a weird hill to die on considering the NBA is rigged and it doesn't matter how you build a team according to Proximo.

The Suns would have to make a trade to fix their front court this season if they want to compete.

It would likely require the use of one or more of their first round picks and a player or two to make it happen.
