Title Says it all, I'm a huge soccer fan every 2 years, World Cup and Euro Cup, but would like to make it a year 'round thing. Pick a team, then tell me why!

Teams I absolutely will not support are: Man U, Aresenal, Chelsea.

Sorted based on current standings.

Newcastle United, baby. The perfect Premiership team for the Cardinals fan. Cool colors too. Oh, and Sunderland's like the Cowboys on here....everyone else seems to love them :barf:

I would like to know why you "absolutely will not support" those three teams. I can understand Chelsea and ManU, but Arsenal are a pretty likable team--young, exciting and play a sort of football nobody in the Prem does.

I wouldn't limit any of your options .... what I would do is watch the games and see what teams you like .... look into their histories, traditions, etc as well.

I like the team I like because I went to their matches when living over there and frequently their pubs as I wouldn't always be able to get tickets (or afford tickets)

The teams that I find interesting may not be the same teams you find interesting.

This year, I've been trying to watch some WBA with little success, am intrigued by Blackpool, Newcastle has my interest (probably not my support - but my interest), some have american goalies so I'll keep an eye on them if I can or other international players that I like .... or even managers (kept an eye on West Ham when Zola was heading them up as I'm a huge fan of Zola .... part of the reason I want to check out WBA is because of Roberto Di Matteo)

No real reason other than they are wildly popular. I'm not a front runner. I have no reason to dislike Arsenal, I just know they're pretty popular.

That's a good idea. I like Blackpool's name. I like Newcastle's beer. Don't know much about most teams, except recognizing players from the World Cup.

A long history (formed in 1879) and amazing supporters. As you will see, we havent really won anything of note since 1973 but we have the best squad i have seen in my life time and maybe, just maybe we might be turning a corner. We also have a chairman in Niall Quinn (a wonderwful ex pro) who is respected thoughout the footballing world.

 fair play. Had some long trips down to Chelsea and we almost always lose. Add to that they have the most expensive tickets in the League (world?) its always hellish. Didnt go this year...amd we win 3-0 :bang: :D

Thats what following us is all about....been so average for so long the winning feels just fanatstic...its like being a Cards fan (very hard to explain unless you have experienced it)

heh - as a seahawks fan I know all too well (and sharks fan and marlins fan.................)

I stumbled into being a Chelsea fan (my professor over there was a supporter and would set us up with tickets .... as soon as I looked them over and say all the Italian names that I'd watch in international play it made sense to follow them)

Not a banner year so far in 10/11 for the Blues though even if it started with so much promise

I was over there in 1999 and learned some interesting things at that game - such as there is only one chris sutton (thank god), that the chorus from Cheer Up Peter Reid is best sung by the opposition in a full mocking tone, that Zola was still awesome and that EPL matches are a ton of fun.

From what I can tell a lot has changed there over the past decade .... a lot of the improvements to the bridge, building up the area around the stadium, etc were still ongoing when I was over there ......

And yet Tottenham and Liverpool are on your list... Especially Liverpool.

And Citeh? :barf:

Been a Sunderland fan since 2004 when they were in The Championship. Seen them lose the FA Cup semifinal to Millwall and playoff shoot out to Palace. Endured the 19 point relegation + two promotions. That's all in 7 seasons. :)

Like Ben said, greatest fans in the world and very similar to the Cards. Sunderland chooses you to be a fan. The club just gets inside you. I have more passion for that club than some teams I've followed for decades.

Sunderland 'Til I Die!!!

Man City is owned by a very rich sheikh from the UAE. Before he bought them they had a history of losing. Since he bought them they been outspending everyone. A lot of the money has been spent unwisely.

Just on forwards they've spent a ton of money
Edin Džeko (£27.5m, Wolfsburg)
Carlos Alberto Tévez (£25m, MSI Group)
Mario Barwuah Balotelli (£22.5m, Inter Milan)
Roque Luis Santa Cruz Cantero (£18m, Blackburn Rovers)
Emmanuel Adebayor (£25m, Arsenal)
João Alves de Assis Silva (£19m, CSKA Moscow)
Róbson de Souza (£32.5m, Real Madrid) sold to AC Milan for less than 50% of what they paid

Of those players Tevez has been the only real stud so far and he turned in a transfer request a few weeks ago. Balotelli will be good, but is still fairly young and a head case. Dzeko was just signed, but is really good.

Man City has the most expensive roster by far, but the talent is definitely there to win.

I'd go with Tottenham because of Gareth Bale

Also keep in mind the availability of games. I can't imagine being a fan of Nottingham Forest, for example, because I wouldn't be able to see any games.

Everyone will tell you to support the team they do.

That is why you should support Leeds. Might not be Premiership this season but we'll be getting promotion come May. We have a great history, the best colours in the country. The best fans in the country, we took 9,000 to watch Arsenal yesterday and showed them what real support is. Plus if you get in there now you can't be accused of being a glory hunter when we win the title in a few years, as you would have supported them in the Championship.

We are also on TV more than most Prem teams because we are still a big club. 13 times on various channels last year, already 6/7 times this season.

The best reason of all to be a Leeds fan - everyone else hates us. I bloody love it!

Um, yeah. A team whose fans punch opposing team's players after a loss. Great team to follow....

See that's the thing. Right now I'm researching, and my knowledge is limited. I can see Liverpool being a trendy pick. Maybe I'll scratch them off (plus torres isn't easy for me to root for). Tottenham?

Oh please, that's just lying by omission. What a rock, Chap. ALL the teams in the Premiership have had fan violence in their past...it's called English football.
